For all the homeowner knew, the perp was heading to a neighboring house to do the same thing to someone else, and maybe that neighbor would end up dead.

The homeowner is a hero, and should be treated as such!

The law is the same here in NC. I suspect there is still another shoe to drop here.

Seventy-six-year-old C.L. McClure would talk to a reporter only through his front door intercom Tuesday – three days after police said he shot and killed a 15-year-old suspected of robbing him and his wife.

“I'm not in any condition to talk,” said the retired building fireproofer through the faint static of his intercom speaker. He wouldn't elaborate.

My comment: The perp is black and my guess is the shooter CL McClure was too

If I were him, I would swear that they said they were going to come back and kill me and my wife. Pre-emptive self-defense.

I think there's a high probability they'd do exactly that if he tried to press charges.

I would have gone after him with a 12 Gauge shotgun. I am 75. If you point a gun at me and act hostile, I will take appropriate steps.

And theft of some jewelry and wallet does not merit capitol punishment in any jurisdiction

Couldn't agree more with you.

For the record: the kid was black, and Mr McClure was also black.
That’s why rev Sharpton, and Jessie aren’t here

He will now have to forgo his basketball scholarship to Duke

Did you read where Forbes' annual review of colleges and universities ranked Duke 105!! One of the reviewers, a Duke alumnus, said the ranking pained him but Duke has now been taken over by the far left, angry studies faculty.

I’m wondering if he shot the right guy. If the robbers were holding the couple by gunpoint, where’s the gun?

I hope he didn’t unload on a kid that just happened to be near where the robbers were running away.

I hope this doesn’t end like a Twilight Zone episode.

>>>In CT, if the threat leaves your property & you give chase, YOU now become the threat in the eyes of CT law. Regardless of what the perp did while on your property.<<<

I’d imagine that is true in nearly every state (perhaps even in Texas).

I think the judge should give him a stern lecture about the evils of vigilante justice and the importance of letting the justice system do its work...followed by a wink and a supsended sentence.

And what would *you* do if you saw your wife bound with duct tape and a gun pointed at her?

He already said he would “go through the proper law (sic) channels”.

"And what would *you* do if you saw your wife bound with duct tape and a gun pointed at her?"

If I had seen that and they had left, I might be tempted to go chase them down and kill them. But it would still be considered murder under the law. I would be tempted a little to do the same, if all they had done was to steal my wallet, but that wouldn't make it right.

“...but officer, I unbound myself, and went to ask for my possessions back, where he assaulted me again, and I had to defend myself and re-feared for my life....here is my CCW license and I won’t say anything further without my attorney present”

Almost right. should be

"I won’t say anything without my attorney present”

B......S.....

in his 70s, the guy might not have enough 'life' left to replace those 'mere possessions' that he spent a portion of his 'life' acquiring...

do not invade and steal, and you wont become target practice...

Mine is within reach.

These guys wouldn't make it thru my front door without a reception.

The victim went to recover his property, which is legitimate. The robber turned toward him in a threatening manner. The Senior was in fear for his life—a gun had been used in the robbery. A defensible shooting.
