Leaders to honor Poland's WWII efforts
Published: Aug. 22, 2009 at 1:48 PM
GDANSK, Poland, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A total of 14 prime ministers and seven foreign ministers will honor Poland for the country's World War II efforts against Nazi Germany, an official says.
Polish Minister of Culture Bogdan Zdrojewski said the foreign officials will gather in Gdansk, Poland, Sept.1 to honor Poland's fight against invading Nazi forces at the start of World War II on Sept. 1, 1939, Polish Radio reported Thursday.
"This year there are three great anniversaries commemorated in Europe: Sept. 1, 1939; June 4, 1989 (the first free election in communistic bloc) and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Two of them are being held in Poland," Zdrojewski said Wednesday.
Among those foreign leaders scheduled to attend the Sept. 1 ceremony in Gdansk are Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek.
Zdrojewski said the ceremony is intended to connect the start of World War II in 1939 with the events of 1989, Polish Radio reported.
"The real end of World War II came with the free election in Poland in 1989 and with the fall of the wall which divided Berlin," the culture minister said.

ONE MORE HIGH LEVEL AFFRONT BY OBOZO TO DESTROY AMERICA’S REPUTATION! All of the PM’s are there except for America’s!
But if it was a Muslim Evening Prayer Meeting in KENYA, ObOZO would have both Biden and Clinton there to sweep the Prayer carpets for his Brothers to kneel on...

As an American of polish descent, I want to honor Polands WWII contributions.
Many Poles died in concentration camps, and they fought bravely!
I would also like to thank them for producing 2 of the finest folks I know, my maternal grandparents, who both came here as young children through Ellis Island, and my paternal grandmother.

The President should be there. So should the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
We know that your President will be playing hooky. And I believe so will our Prime Minister.
Disgraceful.

0bama will go to Germany to celebrate the liberation of the poor benighted Poles. After all he has more in common with the Nazi and Soviet governments that invaded Poland than he ever will with the freedom loving Poles.

I had one of my 4 from Ireland. Mine came over for the same reason. Not sure what area of Poland they came from, but I do know my maternal grandfather had a bit of Chezcoslovakian in him

0bama, Biden, Clinton, etc. will be too occupied with the Fat Bastard’s funeral to give proper respect to Poland.

Kind of a pity, that American leaders will not be present. It is much more of a "Kind of stupid" situation. The Zer0 leadership (/s) can't see due to the following position.

...and they fought the longest of any of the Allies. Polish troops sustained huge combat losses relative to their numbers, particularly in the Battle of Britain. And the Polish Brigade fought bravely and well under Maj-Gen Stanislaw Sosabowski during Operation Market-Garden.
The Poles deserve to have this anniversary commemorated properly by all of her WW-II Allies and it is a scandal that this is not going to happen.

Can’t call Obama an American leader. He’s running for cover again. Cannot do anything to make Americans proud.

I doubt that Obama has any knowledge of history beyond what he was told by 1960s Marxist-Alinsky hippie street rabble and, of course, Rev. Wright.

Remember all the pre-election hoopla about how Obama would make America much more respected than had President Bush? It's difficult to grasp just how much rhetoric there was in those days from this empty suit, actually his teleprompter. Too bad it's up to us on FR to remind everyone of all the trash he talked, and was talked about him, and then compare that with the reality of the nightmare his administration has proved to be.
I am convinced more than ever this man represents pure evil. Anything good he does to benefit others is simply fallout from something he's doing to benefit himself or his cause. Everything he does, every word he says is done and said with himself in mind.
I could be wrong. His performance to date could the result of being thrust into his first responsible role of his life. Time will tell. He wanted this position, and he has it. I don't think he had any understanding how indelibly the Oval Office reveals the true nature of its occupant. I have five words for those, especially The One, who would occupy that office while rendering to it the honor it's due: Ronald Reagan and George Bush !

Poland had one of the most successful resistance movements in Europe. The people set up a shadow government to fight the Nazis. It’s recounted in the book “Story of the Secret State” by Jan Karski, a resistant leader. Poland is one of our friends. Thug obuma will never acknowledge that because Poland is filled with evil white people, and those people resisted obuma’s heroes in the communist and Nazi movements.
