ANADARKO, Okla. The crime scene inside a small Pentecostal church where a pastor was slain was the most brutal he has seen in nearly 20 years as a prosecutor, the local district attorney said Tuesday.
Police have released scant information about the killing of 61-year-old Carol Daniels, whose body was found Sunday inside the Christ Holy Sanctified Church, a weather-beaten building on a rundown block near downtown Anadarko.
"I've prosecuted over 50 murders," District Attorney Bret Burns said. "This is the most horrific crime scene I've ever witnessed." He declined to elaborate, saying he did not want to jeopardize the investigation.

My grandmother lives in that town. I go up there several times a year.
Many islamderthals in the area?
The heart of this Jewish FReeper goes to all members of that congregation that suffered such terrible loss. May G-d sustain them and the family of the Pastor in this time of grief.
These continuing attacks on Christianity and Christians in this country --- on television, in movies, newspapers and in person --- makes me sick.

In the show, she has a brother who is a priest...
Yeah, I remember... :-) Plus an angel that talks to her, too...
I’ve seen the show several times when over at a relative’s house, but I can’t watch it myself. It’s just too “bad” of a show for me... (can’t say too much, though, when I’m at someone else’s house... :-) ... ).
There is so little information being released it is hard to comment on the story. Sounds like there is yet another extra nasty killer on the loose. To do this in a house of God is very lowdown.
You beat me by 9 seconds!
You asked — Many islamderthals in the area?

Native American significance
Anadarko, self-titled, “Indian Capital of the Nation,” is home to the annual American Indian Exposition and is one of two places in Oklahoma where a Lenape tribe is headquartered, the other being Bartlesville. The city houses the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians.
Anadarko is named after the Nadaco, a Caddoan band now affiliated with the Caddo Nation. The term “nadako” means place of the bumblebees in the Caddo language. Incidentally, the Caddo are a federally recognized American Indian tribal entity for which Caddo County is named; Caddo County is part of the former reservation of the Caddo/Wichita/Western Delaware (aka Absentee Delaware), prior to allotment in the post-Dawes Allotment Era.
Indian City USA is located 2 1/2 miles southeast of Anadarko.
Culturally, Anadarko is unique among Oklahoma cities as Native Americans form a near-majority. Locals are often familiar with a few basic Indian words, such as “haw-nay,” being Kiowa for “no.” Wichita and Apache words are sometimes employed in casual conversation as well like “ninit, wee, hangy dawg, stink guy) . Indian motifs are commonly used for design, art, and other aspects of daily life.
Anadarko is also sometimes called Dodge, a reference to Dodge City, Kansas because of the town’s rough reputation; additionally, the town may be called Darko, as an abbreviation.
Anadarko is the home of the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office. The town is situated between the Wichita, Caddo, and Delaware reservations to the north, and the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache reservations to the south. These reservations, along with all but the Osage Reservation in northeastern Oklahoma, were dismantled by the allotment of tribal lands and the opening of the “excess” lands to settlement in a series of land openings; the area surrounded by Anadako was opened to settlement by a 1901 land lottery affecting the Kiowa, Comanche, Wichita and Caddo lands.
Anadarko is home to Riverside Indian School, a boarding and day school for Native American students.

There are many communities in Oklahoma that have very significant proportions of Indians.
Estranged “other” getting revenge for some perceived “wrong,” I imagine.
PASTOR FOUND DEAD IN ANADARKO CHURCH
ANADARKO, Okla. (AP) — A pastor in southwest Oklahoma was killed and her body was found inside her Pentecostal church, but authorities had few leads in the investigation, officials said Monday.
The body of Carol Daniels, 61, was found Sunday inside the Christ Holy Sanctified Church in Anadarko. The small A-frame building sits along a main road in the Caddo County town of about 6,600 people, which is about 60 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said that Daniels had trauma to her body, but she did not disclose details about the killing, including how, when or where she died.
Daniels’ mother, Charlesetta Dunlap, said Monday the family had no further information about the crime and wasn’t ready to talk about Daniels.
“We don’t know anything yet,” she said.
Investigators said they have no suspects in Daniels’ death and few leads to follow. Officials on Sunday spoke with several people who gathered around the building after word about the slaying spread. Many of them wept and hugged each other.
Brown said Daniels lived in Oklahoma City and drove to the church each Sunday for services.
Daniels was a graduate of Douglass High School in Oklahoma City and the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. She is survived by her adult daughter, Raina.
Mitchell Pendarvis, who lives next door to the church, was surprised to hear about the killing.
“I don’t know what to think and I’m trying to think,” Pendarvis told Oklahoma City television station KWTV. “I mean, who would do this to this woman?”
