We have bloggers that come here for one reason only. To drive hits to their sites. Youve seen them.I have indeed seen them, and the temptation to hit Abuse is almost overwhelming. I don't want this site to degenerate to another pile of targeted ads, but the blog-whoring is a definite abuse of FR's bandwidth. Find a way to make them pay for it.
I'm a monthly donor, but times are getting tougher for members of my family, and I can't up my contribution at this time - they come first.

i wish users would kick in their fair share. Wow, that is, dare I say, progressive of you!
JimRob has said numerous times he will not turn this into a restricted pay site. So everyone's "fair share" is what they are willing to contribute, even if that amount is zero!

There is a direct correlation between the increased length of FReepathons and the huge purges that have occurred over the past two years. The lack of donations is completely self-inflicted. We used to discuss issues, debate, disagree, and learn from one another. Now we just shout "troll!" at anyone we disagree with.
FR is still the best clearing house for gathering the news, but our threads used to be the real source of our strength. Most of us are too afraid of being banned to post anything controversial or interesting.

Saw it somewhere. Seemed appropriate.

I agree some with your post 64, but I also think the bad economy has a lot to do with it.
Also, the lack of civility on the threads has turned people off too.
The threads are often look like WWE smackdown where torturing your opposition is more important than making a point.
Personally, I like torturing Eternal Vigilance for his support of Alan Keyes, not that Keyes is a bad guy, it is just after Keyes getting slam dunked in IL, it is hard for me to understand why he is anything more than a washed up has been.

If I already have an automatic payment set up from a previous Freep-a-thon, do I need to keep saying that I'm doing that amount every Freep-a-thon, or is the signup part just for new contributions? Is this a dumb place to ask this question? Have I become one of those annoying people mentioned in the list above?
BTW, I am not a RINO. . . .

I agree some with your post 64, but I also think the bad economy has a lot to do with it. Except that the FReepathons started taking months instead of weeks following the increase in bannings in 2006 and 2007, well before the downturn in the economy. A lot of the people who were banned were regular and even monthly contributors.

Some of us value patriots and Christian brothers for who and what they are, not for what kind of worldly success they may or may not have attained.
God's math ain't our math.

Good question. I was about to send the same myself.
I looked through the auto deductions online for my bank and found one I can live without, so killed that and will increase my FR monthly. Do I make a new donation to do the increase?

We write our screen name in memo on the checks we send specifically so Amy, or Jim don’t feel compelled to send the costly little thank you post card.
We appreciate the FReep Mail that tells us the check arrived in Fresno.

I'm currently working as a stock boy on night shift at Wal-mart making the lowest wage I've earned in over 30 years.
Here's a another $20, Jim. I can afford to skip a couple meals. Hell, I've lots of stored up food around my midsection.
Some things are that damned IMPORTANT!

I used to give money to the first quarter Freepathon.
This year I gave the first, second and third quarter. Free Republic is more important right now than ever before. See you all in Washington.
