It Wants Your Wallet! Beware the Cap and Trade Monster

Imagine an America where a gallon of gas costs you more than $7.00. An America where your electricity bills have doubled or tripled or worse. An America where our producers of goods and services are punished by crushing new fees, taxes, and regulations, causing prices to rise for everything you buy and costing you your job. And then imagine the rest of the world carrying on business as usual, smugly watching America's decline and fall from economic power.

Now, try to imagine you're happy about all this. Seriously. Imagine this nightmarish new America is the fulfillment of your greatest dreams. To you, this is exactly what success looks like. Having a hard time celebrating? Well, start getting used to it, because this ugly vision is exactly what the cap-and-trade bill, already passed by our House of Representatives and headed for a Senate vote (with strong support from the President), is designed to achieve!

What is cap-and-trade? Cap-and-trade is a fancy name for the simple notion that carbon emissions into our atmosphere should be capped by laws forcing industries to pay for "carbon credits" which can be traded (bought and sold) in a giant new marketplace. For example, a coal-fired power plant emitting carbon dioxide as part of its electricity generation process will need to buy enough carbon credits to authorize the emissions. And, the cap-and-trade theory goes, the high cost of these carbon credits will impose incentives for industries to reduce carbon emissions. When you cut through all the legalese and jargon, cap-and-trade is a heavy new tax penalty specifically targeted against American manufacturers and energy producers.

Those promoting cap-and-trade use feel-good clichés about environmental sustainability, green jobs and green energy, and a prosperously pristine planet. They try to paint an appealing picture. Even the name of their legislation, The

Here's my new piece, exposing some of the economic horrors of cap-and-trade. Pass it on - we're in a raging battle and healthcare isn't the only front.

And thanks to William W. Beach, Director of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis, for providing me a pithy and insightful quote for the piece.

I found it interesting that the communists at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote an article about the “climate change bill” being destructive for Wisonsinm but failed to use the words “Democrat,” “senate,” “Reid,” or “Obama” anywhere in the story. Man, are they predictable.

Imagine an America where the last vestiges of productive industry is owned by the government, and everyone is herded into drab government housing projects, living on government rations.

The end of the automobile, home ownership, and personal freedom.

The following will be rationed:
Housing
Income
Credit
Education
Health Care
Electricity
Food
(Gasoline/fuel will not be rationed; it won’t be available at all).

Isn’t it about time to outlaw the dim party before they do some real damage.

When our elected politicians themselves start living in 300sq.ft. earth-bermed cave homes, off the grid, with rainwater collection systems, composting toilets, and self-sustaining home agriculture, then I'll start taking them seriously about "saving the planet".

I found it interesting that the communists at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote an article about the “climate change bill” being destructive for Wisconsin...

If people understood the actual intent behind cap-and-trade, there would be almost 100% resistance.

The end of the automobile, home ownership, and personal freedom.

And we could all live like "enlightened" Europeans, riding crowded trains, living in cramped apartments, in self-imposed bondage.

Say it loud...Say it Proud!!!

It’s the Democrat Party...It needs to be outlawed...

(See, when someone does a search on the internet...i.e.: Democrat party, outlaw...Using those key words, this all will pop up...Draw a lot of attention, see the things we discuss in here, maybe sway a few minds to start thinking outside the box...See what I mean...)

I’m going to do my best to stop chopping the Democrat Party name into things like the “dims”, “dumbs” etc etc etc...

They deserve full credit for the mess we are getting into...Might as well call them for what they are...

The political class doesn't "get" the rising anger of the people. It's about their refusal to listen.

I'm not into outlawing political parties, but I'm all for crushing electoral defeats. We need to keep exposing their self-destructive agenda for what it is.

This is the "rules don't/shouldn't apply to us mentality." A libtard acquaintance was at my house and tried to lecture me because my handvac sits plugged in. Apparently I am wasting energy. Funny that she engages in several behaviors (a 30 mile round trip commute, etc.) that use much more.

Oh, you silly serf, you thought the rules were supposed to apply to the politicians? They know better. For them, their own misinformed "good intentions" count for more than your actual suffering ever will.

Always a defining feature of the Socialist ruling class.
