While teachers across Frederick County prepared their classrooms last week, they were not the only ones moving back into the schools.
Ten school resource officers moved into their offices at the nine county high schools and Heather Ridge School, said Sgt. Mark Landahl, who supervises the unit for the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. The officers worked on patrol during the summer months.

One pic/story can certainly do a lot to quash the carefully crafted image of public schools.
Ironically the liberal policies that produce violent young cretins results in the need to train and pay these ‘resource officers.’
Excerpt:
One of the primary responsibilities of the school resource officers is to assist administrators in dealing with disruptive behavior, emergencies and investigations, said Marita Loose, spokeswoman for Frederick County Public Schools. They also serve as positive role models in the school community.
...
Being proactive and preventing crimes are among the officers’ goals, Landahl said. They also teach a lesson during the school year about search and seizure in the schools’ government classes and take their “DUI Gator” vehicle to educate students about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The officers “are part of that school’s community,” he said.
Well, since the “war on terrorism” is over and not all have abortins, this might be the next best thing to shooting up some kids ... . Besides it’s all part of the COMMUITY effort to get these littel terrorists under control.
Can you imagine if you were a kid and saw THIS in the hallway?
My 16 year old goes to this county’s high schools. Last year, he saw a kid get zapped by a taser, courtesy of one of these “resource officers”
The toughest security force in our H.S. was the Principal.
We had student hall monitors. We never had the type of mayhem that’s all too common now. But in those days
bad behavior meant expulsion.
I would love to hear their version of Search and Seizure. I bet it says, “Stand aside and let Officer Friendly take care of things”.
My solution would be to EXPEL all that have behavior issues and not subject normal kids to this craziness.
Same here.
We were expelled if we acted out or if it was a minor offense - talking while the teacher talked in class - it was detention - which usually included writing something stupid 500 times - I will not talk when the teacher is talking.
What is going on in this county?
It sounds nuts!!!!
Was the child tazed in front of others?
What did the kid do to be tazed?
For the record, this is a relatively high income, educated community, about an hour from Washington DC. This is not the inner city. Yet.
Geesh!
I assumed wrongly it was an inner city type school.
You are right ....
“It’s all too Orwellian and I’m afraid that my head will explode.”
I understand ... .
I bet the salaries of those 3 men are not considered a school expense and do NOT show up in the figures for how much it costs to educate at child in that state.
Police salaries for those assigned to government schools in my state are NOT included in school expense figure. Neither are the pensions and health insurance of retired school employees. Once retired, teachers and other school employees fall into the general category of retire state workers.
So....Whenever you see the figure for what it costs to educate a child in your state, mentally double it. You likely won’t be far off the true cost.
How do government schools resemble prisons? Let me count the ways.
Look at the kind of fun homeschoolers miss out on!
The purpose of government schooling from it very inception in the mid to late 1800s and early 1900s was to produce compliant citizens of the fascist state.
Having armed police in the halls is merely a means to desensitize the children to having police supervision, and to train them to be compliant prisoners of the state.
Exactly!
Is this the wonderful “socialization” that homeschoolers are missing? ( Just wondering.)
