The 20th Century Motor company strikes again. I can't remember the name of the abandoned town in Atlas Shrugged, but they could have called it Fond du Lac.

The "union" flexes its muscle and ... POOF! ... 2 percent of the entire population of Fond du Lac, WI becomes unemployed. Unbelievable ... I support Mercury Marine in their decision. Having your own union poison the well against you is an untenable position for any corporation. Maybe one day, when enough factories close, the idiocy of contemporary labor unions will be curtailed.

Funny thing is, the Union undoubtedly views this as a victory.

Mercury Marine ought to keep a weather eye out toward the SE. I suspect that certain telephones in the national capital are ringing off the hook right now.

People are learning in towns like these. Unfortunately, teacher unions and govt. employees' unions are growing and are likely to agree with "O" as he goes along his journey to total destruction of America as we know it.

The soon to be unemployed...
Photo from press conference with union representatives at the union hall in Fond du Lac, Wis., after Mercury Marine union employees voted no, Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, on the issue of accepting the company's final negotiated offer of reduced wages and benefits. Mercury announced today it will shut down manufacturing in Fond du Lac and consolidate operations at it's Stillwater, Okla., plant in the next 24-36 months.

I wouldn't be buying any Mercury motors that came off the assembly line after 21 AUG 09......sabotage by disgruntled, soon to be unemployed, socialist, idiots will selectively forget to install ball berings, retaining pins, correct wiring, etc.
The union screwed their fellow workers, their county, their community, FDL, WI, and Wisc. last night. They will lose 1800 Merc workers to OK non-union workers who would be happy to have a job. The union also totally screwed approximately 8000 down-stream "job shops" that supply parts to Mercury in FDL....a town of 50,000 will lose approximately 10,000 workers in the next 2 years either directly or indirectly to the union.
