WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The top U.S. military officer on Sunday described the situation in Afghanistan as deteriorating but said the new commander on the ground had not yet requested additional troops.
"I think it is serious and it is deteriorating, and I've said that over the past couple of years, that the Taliban insurgency has gotten better, more sophisticated, in their tactics," said Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff

The list, ping
Yo, Obammy, wake up...!
Quagmire!
Where’s our exit strategy?!
A bigger worry than the carnage count is the fundamental problem of getting men and materials into the interior. Since the Kyber pass is now no longer an option, the question is, how bad does Obama want a troop surge in Afghanistan to succeed? Bad enough to do anything Russia wants in order to have an air base at his service in one of the former Republics? Say, bad enough to sell out Georgia, Poland, the Ukraine, or all of the above? Dubya was right to keep our commitment there small, because Afghanistan is simply not worth selling out the former Republics over.
As Obama wee-wee’s up the mission in Afghanistan, consider this. If we lose Afghanistan, Al Qaida will take over using their Taliban allies. Shortly after that, Pakistan will fall and we will be facing an Al Qaida armed with nuclear weapons.
American WOES!
What is Obama’s Exit Strategy
Support the troops, not our government!
zero’s war
This is Obama’s war after they fired the Commander on the ground and replaced him. It all belongs to him and the rest of the RATs who went after Pres Bush on Iraq.
Afghanistan is a lot worse place to fight IMHO and we are asking our troops to go fight with one hand tied behind their backs that they cannot go into villages after the terrorists. Brings back flashes of Vietnam to limit what the military can do. Another Democrat President except this one without any backbone.
Afganistan- “The Graveyard of Empires”
The failed policies of the Obama administration.
With cap and trade, bail out plans, dopey health plans, Climate Control, and our weird border plans and illegal plans( ?? is there one?) we've got major problems here at home.( and our elected officials have either become eunuchs or serving thier own interests, or bullied into taking a vote for ..what? or all of the above).
This is not the military's fault. It's now a political war and no one wins these things. Granted I'm talking with very little experience and just a hobby of military Hx( was a soldier once)but this is just confusing me. You don't throw millions in weaponry and thousands of good soldiers into dead ends...it's suicide by politics and our soldiers from the lowest to the highest are better than this.
This is out of hand...please write this post off and send it to 'flag@wimphouse.gov."
Please someone explain the war, the present war and why we should continue this. I'm willing to read. p>
Read Post #8.
This is the 3 AM call.
They figure if Americans are so easily manipulated as to elect a mohammedan to lead them, they can certainly be persuaded to declare victory like in Vietnam and leave the Taliban to resume using the country as a base to wage war on the West.
The US hasn't really won a war since they dropped the bomb in '45, and has pretty much forgotten how its done.
Damn, that would be the absolute worst case scenario especially since the messiah complex loves Iran’s “peaceful” nuke program so much...
