Great Britain is on the defensive as criticism intensifies over the release from prison of the bomber of Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, killing 270 people. British newspapers have been rife with speculation that the release of Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, who is said to be suffering from terminal prostate cancer, was motivated by lucrative Libyan oil deals and even anti-Americanism rather than compassion for a dying man, as was originally claimed.
Megrahi, who had served only eight years of a life sentence, was released from a Scottish prison on humanitarian grounds on August 20. He returned home on a private jet to an officially orchestrated heros welcome in Libya.
Megrahis release has been widely condemned on both sides of the Atlantic. In Britain, David Cameron, leader of the Conservative Party, condemned the release as wrong and the product of completely nonsensical thinking. In the United States, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs described the scenes of jubilation in the Libyan capital of Tripoli as outrageous and disgusting. And the families of the victims are understandably dismayed....

the freedom loving Scotland of Mel Gibson’s Braveheart is now, and always was, a fantasy. Scotland has the most restrictive smoking ban in the world. One cannot even smoke in a tobacco shop in Scotland.
This news does not surprise me.
Oil. Period.
BO got mad!
Not so fast there Dave. All the freedom loving Scots are in Canada, Australia, and America. We're all ovew the place bleeding for ye.
Obama releases Guantanamo terrorists to Bermuda without consulting the British government. Britian releases the terrorist to Libya without consulting the American government.
Diplomacy is all about sending messages - tit-for-tat.
“Not so fast there Dave. All the freedom loving Scots are in Canada, Australia, and America. We’re all ovew the place bleeding for ye. “
I’ll have a wee dram of talisker in your honor.
Liberal judge?
That’s a good point - I hadn’t thought of the tit-for-tat aspect.
When in doubt, FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!
While I'm tempted to ponder whether the present occupant of the Executive Mansion might have better served his country by not giving the UK the finger, pretty much since he and the Chief Justice stumbled over the words to the Oath of Office, last January, this terribly sad incident can't be understood outside the rise of Islam in Britain.
All talk of Scottish Nationalism to the contrary, notwithstanding, this simply could not have happened without the tacit approval of the criminal-class who own the Queen's Government in the U.K. and the European Bureaucratic Empire.
If I learned there had been a minor earthquake near the Reagan Library in the past week, it would not be a surprise.
Does someone want to ask Arlen Spector what he things about Scottish Law now?

What’s all the fuss about? Gheddafi struck a deal to pay for his crime. A billion and a half. He’s the real culprit and not that bastard with prostate cancer. He paid , hands were shaken, a monetary value was placed on human life.
DONE DEAL.
Now rightfully he’s celebrating, because Islamic justice has triumphed. The Brit Elites are only pretending to be outraged, but I’m sure plenty are even happier than those Libyans at the airport. They wanted “discretion” no doubt because of some residual Christian-ethos shame.
Reasons of state. War was averted, weapons of mass destruction were - apparently - dismantled. The cold-blooded killer (Gheddafi) was re-admitted into the circle of acceptable partners. And life is worth something (instead of everything).

Wonder what gender?
This is what Hussein has brought upon us. Never would have thought I'd be pining for the days of Clinton.
First I've heard of that particular defining characteristic.
BTW, can anyone tell me what "cock a snook" actually means?
Ya mean the Clintons that brought us 911
The only thing I miss from the Clintons was the good economic times but then he laid the seeds for our present crisis with his Home Ownership for the poor policy
To thumb a nose at.
