Just as soon as President Barack Obama uttered the words Thursday afternoon, the reaction was nearly universal.
On Twitter, The Hill's Sam Youngman asked: "WTF does wee-weed up mean and how do you spell it?"
Real Clear Politics' Mike Memoli: "I don't know what that means."
The Associated Press' Phil Elliott: "Did the president just say Washington gets all "wee-wee-ed up" in August? Really?"
FOX News' Greta van Susteren would later say, "I don't know what that means."
What had happened? During Obama's remarks at a national health care forum, Obama said: "There's something about August going into September where everybody in Washington gets all wee-weed up. I don't know what it is. But that's what happens."
Next up were the jokes.
"When will birthers start saying that 'wee-weed up' is an old Kenyan Muslim saying?" wrote The Hill's Youngman on Twitter.
"Wondering if media elite latte consumption correlates to 'wee-weed up' factor?" tweeted Bloomberg's Lizzie O'Leary. "So am I wee-weed up? I thought it was just allergies."
The Weekly Standard's Mary Katharine Ham chimed in: "My little brothers often weeweed up the pool in August." And: "Yes, wee-wee, the sneakiest fear-monger. Tinkle, the silent consensus-killer."
AP's Elliott: "He's probably talking about urologists, who are famous for taking excessive urine samples for extra profit. So 'wee-wee-ed up.'"
Michelle Malkin blogged: "Is this some Chicago phrase I don't know about?"
Before you knew it, the term "wee weed" was a trending topic on Twitter, it had it's own Twitter handle (@weeweed) and its own domain name www.weeweed.com.(continued)

Bringing ebonics to the White House.
The problem here is that the phrase doesn’t translate well from its original Kenyan.....
I think it’s another term for people wetting themselves.
Either in positive anticipation or negative fearfulness.
The single most un-presidential president I have ever seen.
He’s not exactly a bright shining credit to Harvard Law School, is he.
In the land down under “to have a piss up” is to get drunk at a party ??
This explains why Harry Reid can smell the tourists.
'I "Wee Weed"
Gibbs said he said so.
Wow, he must have picked up that highbrow term as an editor for the Harvard Law Review. Must be the Barney Frank influence.
When under severe stress people often revert to their childhood to escape. The most extreme example of that was Michael Jackson. I think Obama is doing just that, he is in way over his head. Look for him to soon start playing with tinkertoys and having Michelle change his diapers.
God help us.
President Carter must be floating on air, while Presidents Nixon, Harding and Buchanan are smiling somewhere.
Let ALL the widdle piggies ‘wee wee’ wee themselves all the way home next election.
I don’t care who you vote for D or R, just reset the Congress in 2010!
Seriously, can anyone imagine the level of mockery going on right now if W had said “all wee-weed up”?
“I think its another term for people wetting themselves.”
That would describe the reaction in the offices of heads of state all around the world when they are told of those comments by the (person pretending to be) president of the United States. Laughter so intense they wee-wee on themselves.
I dread returning to Russia next month, it was gonna be bad enough anyway...now I will have to put up with the wee-wee jokes.
Unpresidential is an understatement. Have you see the entourage he travels with? He has more relatives than a Morman.
