Sigh... the point is that she has not discovered something new. Folks have been working on, and passing legislation about, tort reform for the past 20 years.

Heck, you might even recall that it was a very prominent plank in GWB's campaign platform in '00 and '04, and he actually got Congressional legislation out of it in 2005 (albeit watered-down, but an accomplishment just the same, given the nature of the issue).

So just stop pretending this is some new thing that only Sarah Palin could have brought up.... it's not.

Are you suggesting that anyone at all is saying Sarah is bringing up a new idea hear? No way. What we are all excited about is that someone who HAS DEMONSTRATED POWER in this issue is putting that power into play on the most IMPORTANT part of health care changes.

She does that with FACTS. She pummels the politicians in DC pointing out that they are IGNORING something that COSTS YOU and me and every other American $2000/yr in additional medical costs, meanwhile those same politicians have plans to ADD a Trillion Dollars in the next decade, and $250 BILLION PER YEAR after that! She is not hammering the politicians as a Republican or a Democrat, but as the populist that she is.

Why are they ignoring it? You know why as well as I do: most of them are lawyers and have many lawyer buddies and donors. If Congress addresses TORT REFORM FIRST, they will be showing me, at least, that they are trying to demonstrate a real interest in controlling costs and changing the medical system for the better. Then I might be willing to let them tackle other issues with a little more faith in them.

Ignoring TORT REFORM means they have no interest in helping us.

Here is a Price Waterhouse Analysis of healthcare costs in America. This shows that the expert Sarah relied on for this is accurate, and that adds to her credibility in this issue.

There you go again. Palin is not claiming this is a new idea and I've yet to see anybody on this thread make the same claim.

Your point is ironic given your stated correction of Sarah on her mentioning "building roads and hospitals" as being inappropriate.

Double sigh...:^) That was the entire point of the elephant in the room comment. Nothing new, just a huge important part of the health care debate that is being IGNORED! (So it might as well be new, :^) , THANK GOD Sarah is bringing these topics SMACK into the fray! God BLESS her! And all of the people around her. I LOVE her mind!

Sigh... the point is that she has not discovered something new. Folks have been working on, and passing legislation about, tort reform for the past 20 years. “

Woke up on the wrong side of ya bed this morning huh?
The fact that people have been “working on” tort reform for 20 years, does not in the least make tort reform any less vital, if we are to reform healthcare in this country. Doctors in this country are STILL suffering from frivolous lawsuits and something akin to terrorist tactics from ambulance chasing lawyer vermin, who have the Democratic Party in their pockets.
It's like saying we have been fighting against drugs for decades and it's nothing new, so therefore no one should talk about it, despite the serious problems with illegal drugs we have in this country.
The point is, I am yet to hear our so-called Republican Pary “leaders” like McCain, or even the RNC Chairman, Steele, come out and forcefully demand that 0bama fix tort reform before trying to fix healthcare, in this current debate, because most of the “problems” with healthcare in this country, can be traced straight to the ambulance chasing vermin that prey on everybody.
You seem to be out to be creating your own “issue” then arguing with the issue that you created yourself. For starters no one has even come close to claiming that Gov Palin invented tort reform, yet you make that up, then attack it yourself.
Sounds like you need to find some more useful way to spend your life to me, instead of arguing with stuff that you just made up.
