For the 5th straight month, Public Policy Polling finds Mike Huckabee the strongest 2012 contender against Barack Obama (click here for poll).
1. Barack Obama 47% Mike Huckabee 44%
2. Barack Obama 47% Mitt Romney 40%
3. Barack Obama 49% Newt Gingrich 41%
4. Barack Obama 52% Sarah Palin 38%
Favorability ratings:
a. Obama 52%/42%
b. Huckabee 45%/28%
c. Gingrich 33%/42%
d. Palin 40%/49%
e. Romney 37%/34%
Notes: Huckabee receives positive favorability ratings in every income group, while Palin receives negative ratings in every income group, except those making less than 25K/year.
Interestingly, that same income group gives Romney a -3% rating, so you can see a bit of the socio-economic divide between the two candidates' supporters.
In a 2012 matchup, Obama beats each GOP candidate in every income group, except Mitt Romney in the 100k+ group.
Favorability ratings among the age groups are pretty fascinating. Newt, Palin, and Romney are all most popular among the +65 set, which isn't great news for the GOP.
But Mike Huckabee bucks the trend and has positive favorables among every age group, with his strongest support (at +26%) coming from 18-29 year-olds.

Argh....
He would be the same oh, same oh, and spend, spend spend. I like the Lady...she is pit bull tough.
I have to question the results... Sarah is the only candidate that is a strong conservative... all the other dudes will just be a Bush lite...
Anyone who believes this, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.
Funny how Sarah is the only one with the guts to tell like it is, and yet this rat outfit has huck and romneycare ahead. I wonder what the result would be like when she start campaigning.
I don’t really care about a GOP poll.
I’m more interested in what conservative Republicans think, not liberals and RINO’s.
The GOP (read RINOs), the Democrats and the MSM all have an interest in channeling us toward their pick of candidates. I don’t listen to them. I don’t trust any of them. I’ve made my choice at this point and will only back off of that when convinced she isn’t viable. So far, nothing’s come close to doing that.
We wont get the WH back....The media will still lick Obamas feet....He will still raise a boat load of cash...Our crop is not that stellar...So we should take congress and the senate back and render him impotent
What a joke. The Huckster is a big government loving, big spending, country club republican. The only thing about him that is appealing to (some) republicans is that he’s (allegedly) an evangelical Christian.
I’m sick of the media picking weak candidates for us. I’m also tired of the weight given to Northeastern states in the primaries.
I attended a Tea Party yesterday with a crowd of about 7000.There was only one politician that had widespread support at the rally. Sarah Palin.
He is a clown that will say anything to get elected. He has shown he is willing to give a pass to illegal aliens and those who hire them, and will throw under the bus those who protest.
Mr. Populist, he is.
Palin is only running 2 points behind Romney after 10 months plus of the press doing its best to destroy her!
Once obama implodes and the race actually start and she starts filling stadiums again, she will soar into the lead.
(Mike Huckabee bucks the trend and has positive favorables among every age group, with his strongest support (at +26%) coming from 18-29 year-olds.}
I guess having Chuck Norris campaign for him , helped Huckabee. Since Meaghan McCain talks about how the GOP must attract young people, then she will endorse Huckabee right?
Polls are meaningless since everyone knows who he is terrified of.
Pray for America and Gov Palin
It appears that conservatives are being presented with, in 2010, an opportunity that will make the 1994 congressional massacre look like child’s play. I hope that they don’t screw it up by nominating weasels.
If Huck got the nod, he would almost surely ask Sarah onto his ticket.
PPP is a leftist poll, so take what they say with a grain of salt
I’m just one vote, but I won’t cast it for him.
