A failed, single term?
The Washington Times ^ | Saturday, August 15, 2009 | Jeffrey T. Kuhner

President Obama is on the way to joining an exclusive club. It is the club of failed one-term presidents.

During the presidential campaign, Mr. Obama sold himself as a pragmatic moderate. In fact, he is the very opposite. He is an internationalist socialist whose policies will lead to ruin at home and defeat abroad. They will also doom his re-election efforts. He is flirting with political disaster.

Despite his many flaws, former President Bill Clinton established the model for successful Democratic administrations. Mr. Clinton governed as a liberal centrist. He realized that veering too far to the left early in his presidency was detrimental: His support of Hillarycare and gays in the military resulted in the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress. Mr. Clinton changed course by embracing free trade, welfare reform and balanced budgets -- combining fiscal responsibility and social liberalism. This formula prevented the Republican Party from recapturing the White House in 1996.

Mr. Obama is the anti-Clinton. He is a leftist ideologue who has surrounded himself with radical and inept advisers. Mr. Clinton had political counselor Dick Morris and Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin. Mr. Obama has David Axelrod and Timothy F. Geithner.

As a result, Mr. Obama’s presidency is starting to look like the worst in 100 years. His $787 billion fiscal stimulus has failed to restore economic recovery. Unemployment remains high. Growth is anemic.

This formula prevented the Republican Party from recapturing the White House in 1996.

Actually, having Bob Dole as the candidate secured the election for Clinton.

BS - Move the country left a little, republicans get elected do nothing come back and move a little to the left.

They are getting there - a second term is not important.

Bill Clinton would never gotten a second term if the GOP actually ran someone that was not as useless as bill.

During the presidential campaign, Mr. Obama sold himself as a pragmatic moderate.

As Bawney Fwank would say, "What planet are you from?"

I never saw that damn fool campaign as anything but a worn-out tax-em-all-Dem, and as time went on he got rather open and downright cocky about his socialism.

Bob Dole was a lackluster candidate of a party leadership that didn’t care or had been bought off.

I'd love to see every initiative this sorry quisling has put forth to be absolutely turned over and thrown in the trash can after the 2010 elections...and then every effort he makes similary stymied by an absolute majority...super majority in the house and senate.

Every time he tries to veto...have it turned over forthwith. Make him an absolute powerless, minimized, trivialized lame duck who can do nothing but pout into his TOTUS.

Also, as Ann Coulter pointed out. The 1994 election which vaulted the Republicans into legislative power. They passed legislation that Clinton was forced kicking and screaming into signing. This helped him to get re-elected because it was popular with the voters. It painted him as a centrist instead of a lib.

Yep. Ol' Slick Willie was a real politician. He governed Arkansas for a couple of terms and understood how the system worked.

The Messiah, OTOH, NEVER HELD AN HONEST JOB IN HIS WHOLE LIFE, and therefore has no clue, none, about how to work with people and existing structures.

>> Looking for 1/2 a term

If the ‘Rats lose one or both houses decisively in next year’s midterm election, then Bambi’s term might just amount to half-a-term, even if he finishes it out.

Praying you dreams come true!

>>A failed, single term?<<

.
No, a successful first term, considering that he may be legally not eligible for the position of POTUS. Even now, Congress protects him by allowing him to keep his past and origin a secret so that he can remain in the WH, unchallenged.

Congress should easily be able to force him to identify himself completely, but instead it is satisfied with having an enigma as Head of State. They seem to be part of the conspiracy.
