Rebates for Refrigerators? Dollars for Dishwashers? Funds for Furnaces?
The government's so-called "Cash for Clunkers" program has been grabbing headlines, but it's not the only federal program putting money back into consumers' pockets. A new government program is poised to help appliance manufacturers the same way "Clunkers" gave a jump start to auto manufacturers.
As part of the Obama Administration's economic stimulus bill, nearly $300 million was set aside to fund a state-run rebate program for consumers purchases of Energy Star-qualified home appliances.

crap
Seriously, we should all promote this name, as it demeans it in the public eye as soon as possible.
We just bought a new washer. Kind of sucks we won’t get it, though I ultimately hope the program doesn’t even get off the ground.
These rebates are getting ridiculous.

>>We just bought a new washer<<
And you’re going to buy a whole lot more for a whole ton of people.
Aren’t we nice?
Are there any appliances manufactured in the US?
Yeah. Putting money in consumers' pockets by taking it out of the auto dealers' pockets -- stiffing them on their "reimbursements."
and this afternoon, Obama will introduce his hamburger czar, and tomorrow his beer czar.
Cocaine and hooker czars will be introduced next week. Sorry, I mispoke. Obama himself has that handled. Ask Larry Sinclair and Dr. Manning!
Where’s the Oh Geez not this Crap again guy?
Any way they can bolster the Obamafraud’s programs of giving away our tax money. Why not cut out the bull crap and just send everyone a $10,000.00 check ? That should bankrupt us very quickly, huh?
How do they plan to disable the old dishwashers?
If the government is really, truly serious about "Stopping Man-Made Global Warming" and "Making the population more energy efficient" - the easiest way to that goal is NOT through mandating some sort of overpriced light bulb or promoting a car that burns gasoline at a slightly slower rate than an SUV.
The quickest and easiest way to attain a substantial part of their goals is to get rid of Aunt Minnie's 40-year-old wheezing Oil Furnace and replace it with new efficient technology. Ditto on Fridges and deep freezes and AC. Times millions of households....now you're talking a significant energy savings.
Flame away, and disagree - but at least they're finally doing what they've said that they want to do. Makes sense, in a liberal-logic sort of way.
Great...
So now we get to pay to stimulate the Mexican economy, as well, eh?
Speaking of drunken sailors...
I think we need to support the American whiskey industry.
Turn in old, empty bottles of American-made Tennessee and bourbon and rye whiskey, and get $10 of the price of a nice new fresh bottle.
I’m there.
They will disable the old washers by filling the soap recepticle with DNC bullcrap. That will foul them up forever !!!!!!!!!
GE?
