Yes. Very shocking and unexpected.
This does not negate the fact that Oprah did a good deed. But it just shows how unethical and immoral the world has become.
I realize that, Hildy.
C’mon guys, you know it’s racist to say anything bad about Katrina Victims.

They not going to have to worry about “homes” for a good long time it looks!
This type of behavior is transracial.
White trash, black trash. Both are trash.
Many here who will take this opportunity to trash her. They always do.
To clarify ...
They received legitimate FEMA help and then were aided by Winfrey’s Oprah’s Angel Network, which provided the financing to allow the storm victims to move into and own new homes.
Oprah’s Angel Network worked with Habitat for Humanity to build and furnish homes for approximately 65 families, most of whom moved onto Asheburton Springs Drive in southwest Houston, which was subsequently renamed Angel Lane

Unfortunate. Oprah’s heart is definitely in the right place - even if her brain isn’t always. ;)
But somehow I think that Oprah is not going to help them raise bail money.....
Yes, that I can agree with you on!
I expect to see them on her show, soon.
It isn’t just the Katrina folks that are lying to collect our tax money.

6 ranchers accused of falsely claiming Rita swept cattle away

Six area ranchers are facing federal felony charges accusing them of falsely claiming they lost more than 650 head of cattle that were swept into the Gulf of Mexico during Hurricane Rita.
The cattle were claimed lost from High Island, which was somewhat spared when Rita took a turn east and the brunt of the storm ravaged Beaumont in September 2005. A lawyer for one of the men said his client’s claim was legitimate.
According to the indictment unsealed Wednesday, the ranchers tried their tales of bone-strewn pastures and floating carcasses on local officials who would not pay, then on a state board that also rejected the claim. But the ranchers succeeded in persuading federal officials in Colorado to pay them $390,000.
Members of the High Island Cattle Association and one other rancher supported each others’ claims for U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) funds with affidavits about witnessing the losses of each other’s livestock, according to the indictment.
