President Barack Obama, trying to regain control of the health-care debate, will likely shift his pitch in September, White House and Democratic officials said, as he faces pressure from supporters to talk more about the moral imperative to provide health insurance to all Americans.
The rethinking comes amid a struggle by the White House to clarify its view on a public insurance plan, which liberals see as a critical part of a health overhaul.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Sunday that a public plan isn't the "essential element" of a health bill, prompting sharp words from liberal groups.

Somebody ought to ask him with the Canadian and GB systems imploding why he wants to drag America down the same path
I got into an argument w/another Christian who threw the Good Samaritan parable in my face. They were trying to convince me we were REQUIRED to have a welfare state because of that Scripture.
What he didn't realize was that when one looks at the CONTEXT of the passage, Jesus wasn't at all endorsing a civil state where wealth is distributed by the government.
Amazing what one can learn when one treats the Bible with respect, instead of cramming our pre-determined views into its pages. :)
I guess when the facts are not on your side, try phony emotionalism.
The GOP should have a followup presser with MANY citizens of Canada, Britian, ....
Get my drift?
Why should we respsond positively to any request to become slaves for the benefit of others (that’s what socialism does in general, and what socialized medicine does in particular,) no matter how nicely framed?
“So we will be racists and heartless.”
Exactly. The substance of this bill is not being debated. It’s all irrational attacks. The kind of stuff Democrats like.
Hang together, folks. Or hang seperately. The Democrats are lacking in scruples.
Locally they are having this urgent thing in front of reps offices with people telling their awful cancer/health problem stories- saying they HAVE TO HAVE OBAMACARE.
I will bet it is paid operatives and ACORN.
There is no right to food, shelter, or health care beyond what you can provide for yourself and your family. In fact there is no “right” for you or me to levy against another individual for any personal needs.
There is also no provision on the Constitution for the Federal Government to provide these to residents in these United States.
These are the only valid moral arguments.
And emotional arguments be damned. If you want to provide for the “less fortunate” its called “charity.” And you do it with your own money and your own time. Americans are very charitable; if we had more of our own money, we’d be even more so.
I'll volunteer the horror story of my Dad, WWII combat veteran, worked all his life (worked himself into an early grave), who was dying of cancer, totally disabled, but was denied SSI disability because the bureaucrats said he could "still work", even though he was wheelchair-bound, couldn't really use his arms, and had little control of his bodily functions towards the end. He had to go through almost two years of appeals and finally go up before an administrative judge before his appeals were granted. Then he lived another eight months and got little return compared to what he'd paid in. Really efficient system, that. Efficient at letting a sick person die. But I guess that's what Obama and the 'Rats want.
A moral appeal from Obama? Oh my word.
btw who created *that* Obamajoker pic? because it’s much better than the Time joker.
Hang-Nail-Healthcare Is a Right! Gimme gimme gimme!
Bill Maher and the rest of the religion-hating left must be PISSED by the fact that Obama needs to resort to religion to support his policies.
I’m happy to give my money to help people I choose to help, be it from church or somewhere else. I don’t need it to go through Obama’s hands first.
Yep, you read in what I was layin’ down...
Desiring to, and voting to, force others to “help” people
in no way satisfies Christ’s requirement to help the poor.
