WASHINGTON Given hardening Republican opposition to congressional health care proposals, Democrats now say they see little chance for the minority's cooperation in approving any overhaul, and are increasingly focused on drawing support for a final plan from within their own ranks.
Top Democrats said Tuesday that their go-it-alone view was being shaped by what they saw as Republicans' purposely strident tone against health care legislation during this month's congressional recess, as well as remarks by leading Republicans that current proposals were flawed beyond repair.
The White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, said of Republican lawmakers, "Only a handful seem interested in the type of comprehensive reform that so many people believe is necessary to ensure the principles and the goals that the president has laid out."
The Democratic shift may not make producing a final bill much easier. The party must still reconcile the views of moderate and conservative Democrats worried about the cost and scope of the legislation with those of more progressive lawmakers determined to win a government-run insurance option to compete with private insurers..........
This is an incredibly insane move on Obama and the democrats part. They have no ‘Marxist Mandate’ and they are underestimating the real anger boiling up in this country. They are believing their own biased state run media...lol. BIG MISTAKE!
This is a declaration of war on over half of the American people. The poll numbers are showing clearly that the American people are not in favor of government run healthcare.
It’s time for some recalls of these congresscritters in states that allow it. It may be the only way to stop it.
The States, not just the Red ones, have been doing that on many things. There has been a passive rebellion by the States going on for months. Think outside the box everyone; the midterms are not the only option.
DISCLAIMER: I’m NOT referring to violence.
I’m not either but I would approve secession.
Secession....I’m with you.
Oh please, can't we have a bunch more, just so I can be able to refer to the RATs jumping ship?
Secession should be a last resort. We shouldn't leave the greatest country in the world; we should throw them out of it!
It's a nice thought, but state law only applies to state legislators. The only body that can remove a sitting US Representative is the House of Representatives. And, the only body that can remove a sitting Senator is the US Senate.
See post #213
Have to drive mom for surgery that day...
I DO NOT trust ANYTHING these people are saying. When it comes down to the vote.......if the “single-payer” is even out....they will STILL vote for it.
It would be “reversing” something that hasn’t even gotten into first gear yet.
Thanks for the clarification. Our only hope is to go to these townhalls and raise hell!!
This is an outrage!! The republicans had better start shouting from the rooftops!
I know several states are thinking of that.
Too bad I am not in one of them...sigh.
My thoughts exactly !
This is soooo sweet I can't wait for the dems to get hammered in 2010 and give pelosi a broom closet for an office when we take back control !
“Co-ops” is the same old “Public Option” dressed up in a new outfit.
Don’t those evil Dems know that we are on to them and their shell game?
ROFL
Dont those evil Dems know that we are on to them and their shell game?

The ‘Dems’ don’t give a rat’s @ss WHAT WE think. Keep up the heat.
Yeah, who care if the country goes in the toilet as long as the R’s pick up a few seats in 2010!
