Authorities say five teen girls were repeatedly groped and threatened on a Portage school bus for months before the two 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy were arrested in February.

A Porter County judge on Thursday ruled the repetitive pattern of behavior by the boys showed that they were beyond rehabilitation in the juvenile justice system. Juvenile Magistrate Edward Nemeth also wrote that there was a need to protect students and deter similar actions

We’re a family of modest income, but we educated four children in private Christian schools. Sometimes you can’t afford NOT to do that. Not to paint with a broad brush, but government schools are often hellhole warehouses. People emerge as dumb and uneducated as they went in. Or they get an “education” all right, but it’s not in the three R’s. I teach college students, so I see it firsthand every single term.

You can’t hug children with nuclear arms.

Hey, I’ve met people like you.

They usually are rocking over a Koran though.

For those who are addicted to the free government school babysitting, the truth hurts.

The truth:

1) ALL government schools in this nation teach from a godless perspective.

2) ALL government schools in this nation teach child how to live without God.

3)All government schools teach children to compartmentalize their faith.

4) All Christian government teachers teach children to live without God, and to compartmentalize their faith. Since children **know** that this is not compatible with the Christian faith, Christian teachers therefore teach children that Christian teachers will sell their principles for a government paycheck and pension.

5) Those Christian teachers attempting to sneak in a little Christian morality in to their classes teach children that Christians are sneaky.

Sorry....There is no possible way that government schools can be a positive Christian experience for any child.

If Christians really cared about kids they would see that every child had free access to a tuition-free private and Christian education. And...They would work to shut down the government atheistic madrasses.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

ALL government K-12 schools in this nation teach from a godless perspective, therefore, NONE are good for the child or our nation.

Darn, I guess the Jewish side of my family is just plain screwed then by your way of thinking.

"If Christians really cared about kids they would see that every child had free access to a tuition-free private and Christian education. And...They would work to shut down the government atheistic madrasses."

And what? Replace them with a secular Christian Madras instead?

My ancestors came here to avoid exactly what you are proposing, to be allowed the freedom both for and from extremists on both sides of the issue. We have had public schools since this nation was founded, seems some of us turned out okay across this nation over the years.

Did you see the line in the article that this went on for MONTHS before the boys were arrested?

Authorities were probably uncomfortable with the idea of doing anything since the perps were black and victims were white girls.

It’s about time that parents woke up to the fact that public schools are entirely unnecessary today. We don’t need them anymore. We don’t need unionized teachers with a mandate and tenure, we don’t need layer upon layer of school administrators, we don’t need kids being indoctrinated in whatever the new fad is and having to deal with the people who manage to garner influence with the local school board — frequently usurping parental authority in the process. Public education is obsolete. Parents can choose from a wide spectrum of educational offerings, religiously oriented classes — classical education, on-line courses, courses that follow the interests of students, etc., etc.

My local TV station did a story about students in a charter school who take their instruction from a computer. Two teachers sat in the back of the classroom and watched the students as they progressed through their classes using a computer program. The kids loved it. I think they loved it because they had some peace and quiet and could learn at their own pace. One of the students (a black kid) came right out and said this to the reporter. He would prefer using a computer program to teach him what he needed to know and do rather than interact with a teacher. To me that says, I don’t want you or your influence in my life.

Unfortunately, these teachers don’t realize that by sitting in the back of a classroom and not interacting with their students, they are making themselves obsolete — but the kids don’t care whether there teachers are in the classroom or are smoking in the teachers lounge.

“2) Work to shut down every government K-12 school in the nation. ALL of them are godless in their worldview.”

As I recall, there is currently a law suit against a school district in California because the teachers had prayer before a meal of employees and booster club members, after hours, on school property. Included in the evidence against the school, the fact that their policy encourages the exampling and teaching of the tenents of Christianity.

Once again, you make a blanket statement regarding schools and once again, you are proven wrong.

Jumping in here...

Darn, I guess the Jewish side of my family is just plain screwed then by your way of thinking. And what? Replace them with a secular Christian Madras instead?

There are plenty of Jewish families homeschooling. The point is, whatever your faith, you are free to learn with it as your basis outside a gov't-run school system. We're not churchgoers in our family, and our children don't attend a public school, either.

My ancestors came here to avoid exactly what you are proposing, to be allowed the freedom both for and from extremists on both sides of the issue.

We each have certain natural rights. How can someone be guaranteed freedom "from" extremism without trampling on someone else's First Amendment rights? And therein lies the problem with taxpayer-financed schools run by local, state, and federal government: Whoever is in control of that school system will dictate the point of view that will be taught. You may have some influence IF a majority of people agree with your point of view. Otherwise, you're stuck supporting the system, whether you like it or not, and sending your children there.
