>> The White House is blaming the controversy over its Web site and mass e-mails on viral rumors, “fear-mongering” and “sinister conspiracy theories”
Then why did you shut it down, Bambi?

Violation of law is hardly a conspiracy, unless it displays a pattern—like what is passing for an Administraion these days.

Just how many ‘Sinister Conspiracy Theories’ have turned out to be just exactly ‘Scandalous Facts’ - One ‘silky pony’ Edwards comes to mind...

Hear me out on this one -
It very well COULD BE that they were only wanting to see what rumors and counter-arguments were out there so that they could develop their talking points (lies) to address the genuine concerns of the people.
They, however, have a tin ear when it comes to the state.
It has to do with their idea that when “their people” are in charge, gov’t can only be benevolent, and why doesn’t everyone else see it that way.
Leftists historically have this blindspot when it comes to their elites. It’s because they don’t believe in the doctrine of the innate depravity of the human condition.

Baghdad Bob Gibbs needs to be asked exactly when someone is going to be fired and prosecuted for this.

Please note that they have not deleted the data. If you are in the database, you are in the database. You’ll be hearing from them soon...
