Voting with Their Feet (2000000 Americans Leave America)

If that's correct, I can't think events in 2009 will do anything to diminish the flow. What I wonder is: Where did those 2 million go? Britons, Canadians, Europeans, etc, who seek "greener pastures" generally wind up in the U.S. For most of us immigrants, this is the last stop on the tour: There's nowhere else to go. So where on the planet do a couple of million Americans go to find somewhere "greener"?

In Ireland the standard corporate tax rate in 2009 is currently fixed at 12.5%. Great place to run a company. In the US, business taxes all added together are over 50%!

The Czech income tax rate for individuals, in 2009, is a flat 15% rate. Czech Republic Corporate tax in 2009 is 20%.

For temporary residents in Panama, tax is only applied to Panamanian-sourced income. 0% Tax! So live in Panama and run a company in a foreign country and live tax free.

In a global economy and with instant communication location means little. Washington doesn't seem to understand this.

So are you saying that American Pilots leave America for piloting positions overseas? Are their any benefits to that?

Sometimes a job vs no job. Sometimes a better job.

Eventually, if the socialist trend continues in this county, your reaction will be mimicked by tens of thousands who will figured it out.

If dems get their way - bankrupt what they can't nationalize then turn over what's left to a socialist committee - almost any place will be greener.

How do they quantify people ‘leaving?’ Do they count those taking up citizenship in another country or those merely living outside of the US for a year or more?

"Leaving" should be defined as "exiting the tax-jurisdiction of the U.S."

But since, even if you relocate to a foreign country and simultaneously renounce your citizenship, the IRS will continue expecting tax returns from you for another ten years...

Regards,
