Note on Congress on Your Corner listening session format: In order for as many 4th District residents as possible to speak directly with Rep. Markey, residents will join groups of 15 -20 people for public listening sessions. 4th District residents are asked to arrive no more than 30 minutes in advance of the meeting, to accommodate residents’ work and family schedules and so that everybody who would like to ask a question has an opportunity to do so.

Betsy Markey is lying again! Now that she's been pressured by the Colorado press into posting a "schedule" of town hall meetings after claiming for weeks that the "Schedule was being finalized.", there seems to be something missing from the "schedule", namely the locations of the events. How convenient!

I called her DC office this morning and was told that "The locations hadn't been worked out yet."

So tell me, how can one have set specific times and cities and not have meeting places? You can't! Once again they are lying. Betsy is obviously scared sh*tless to meet her constituents, and is making it as difficult as possible to meet with her.

I urge all Coloradans to turn out for her meetings in mass and protest her actions, and protest her votes on energy and her stance on the government healthcare takeover.

In the mean time, call her DC office (202.225.4676) and ask for the meeting places. Act incredulous that they can set times and cities but not locations, and then call them liers!

Also call the newspapers in her districts and ask very nicely to speak to the senior news editor and ask why they are buying her lies about not having locations.

A good question to ask would be, why did you choose to run for elected office if you won't meet with the people you are supposed to represent, at least in a venue of their choosing?

Once component (among others) of effective representation is to know what people think about the issues of the day, and one way to gauge that is to meet with them. If they don't, it is clear that effective representation of their constituency was not the reason that person sought the office. And that is one reason why the country is in decline. The Founders did not intend political offices to be sought by those motivated only by self-interest. Those offices are intended to be a kind of service, but to others, and to the country, not self-serving.

Markey's staff will be handing out a copy of George Washington's “Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior” to everyone at her public events.

Gee, Betsy, is this how George ran the Redcoats out of the Colonies? Handing them "Rules of Civility"?

It makes me sick to my stomach that a Marxist like her would invoke George Washington's name.
