Experts who track hate groups across the U.S. are growing increasingly concerned over violent rhetoric targeted at President Obama, especially as the debate over health care intensifies and a pattern of threats emerges.

"I don't think these are simply people who are mentally ill or off their rocker," Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, told ABC News of those behind the threats. "In a very real sense they represent a genuine reaction, a genuine backlash against Obama."

Experts say a sharp growth in so-called militia groups that helped spawn a wave of domestic terrorism in the 1990s – and are now using YouTube, rock music and the Internet to recruit members and spread hate and fear - shouldn't be ignored.

"It's certainly a scary time," said former FBI agent Brad Garrett, now an ABC News consultant. Garrett said the Secret Service "cannot afford to pass on anyone," and he believes "they really do fear that something could happen to [Obama]."

Garrett said statements like one recently made by Rush Limbaugh comparing logo for the White House plan to a Nazi symbol "legitimizes people who are on the edge to go do something or say something."

I don't know if they have or have not actually looked at Nazi techniques. What I do know is that THIS statement above is made by the chief healthcare advisor to the President of The United States, the person who is pushing this legislation harder than anyone.

This man, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel is the brother of Rahm Emanuel. This is a guy, (Rahm Emanuel) who when election results were coming in was reputed to have taken a steak knife and repeatedly stabbed it into a table while yelling out the names of opponents and organizations, such as "McCain...DEAD!" (stab) "Palin...DEAD!" (stab) and so on.

Okay, hahaha, that is funny juvenile humor which I can laugh at in the correct context. Turn the tables on this..what if it had been Rove doing this? (That in and of itself is completely laughable, but you get the point) The point is, these guys are brothers, Ezekiel and Rahm Emanuel. They both fell close to the same tree, one is an immoral, corrupt whisperer in the ear of Obama, and, well...so is the other one.

The only problem is, one is whispering stuff like "...throw Israel under the bus..." and the other one is whispering "An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia."

We will hear liberals say (and probably him as well) that his words were taken out of context, but I read the paper Ezekiel Emanuel wrote, and the context is all too clear. If they want to push concepts such as "The Complete Lives System", they cannot complain if people compare them to the Nazis, who had their own methods of dealing with the vulnerable and defenseless in society.

As I said in another thread, it is a disquieting fact that the people who are crafting this legislation, beginning with the person who is pushing it the hardest, have no problem with the concept of aborting a 8 3/4 month baby that unexpectedly refuses to die, then leaving it gasping out its short life on a steel table in a linen closet without even a comforting hand to let it know that its short spark of life touched someone.

I am not making it into an abortion issue. But the point remains that when we surrender our choices to legislation created by those people, we all can be that doomed child.

There’s an awful lot of news outlets giving an awful lot of space to an awfully small news item from an awfully biased group.

All of these “militias are rising” stories all just rehash the single bigoted SPLC news item. None actually get out there and investigate the alleged issue themselves.

There’s a theory that the media is making a big deal of this in an attempt to prep people for something, kinda like what culminated in OK City (maybe not a conspiracy to make it happen, but to goad crazies into making it a statistical certainty, and to rile the public to turn against the Right when it happens).

Besides, imagine the years and year of wall to wall coverage of him if he were martyred. We'd never be able to watch TV. So, fellow citizens, protect BO and stop or report to proper authorities any plots that you might run across. He must go quietly out of office at the end of his term.

I have, on a website we all know and love. For some reason the frequency of this seems to have gone down with Obama's poll numbers and perhaps with the rise of the birther thing. FR is pretty good about deleting the more explicit comments. But there was quite a bit of talk about how good it would be if Obama was involved in an "accident", etc.
