Key senators are excluding a provision on end-of-life care from health overhaul legislation after language in a House bill caused a furor.
Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a statement Thursday that the provision had been dropped from consideration because it could be misinterpreted or implemented incorrectly.
For more than a decade in Congress, Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer has been known for his ever-present bow-tie and tireless advocacy of bikes.
In a widely quoted Facebook posting, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin charged that federal bureaucrats would play God, ruling on whether ailing seniors or children with Down syndrome such as Palin's son Trig are worthy of health care. Palin called the proposal "downright evil."
Many news organizations including The Associated Press debunked Palin's claim. The provision that caused the uproar would authorize Medicare to pay doctors for voluntary counseling about end-of-life care.

"It's deliberate at this point," Blumenauer said of Palin's failure to correct her Aug. 7 Facebook posting. "If she wasn't deliberately lying at the beginning, she is deliberately allowing a terrible falsehood to be spread with her name."

"You are asking us to trust turning power over to the government, when there are clearly people in America who believe in establishing euthanasia, including selective standards," Gingrich said Sunday on the ABC's "This Week."
Blumenauer called the comments despicable...of an orchestrated effort by Republicans to discredit the health care overhaul and scare seniors.
In nearly four decades of public life, "this is the starkest example I've ever seen of how, if we're not careful, political discourse dissolves into some type of partisan cage-fighting, where there are no rules and anything goes,"

An attempt to gain support from the old people. The ones they’ll deny medical care to first.
Democrats are really lashing in out with fangs and claws now.
OK. Now try for the REST of the bill, politicians. SCRAP IT ALL!!!!!
So what is it? Was it there or wasn't it?
too little, too late. They snookered us one time on the first half of this obamacare in the stimulus bill, but not again.. trash it... the whole thing...
I don’t trust ‘em.

Once Congress returns to Washington, Corker suggested citizens should pay close attention to the Senate Finance Committees discussion on using $410 billion from the Medicare program to leverage a new health care entitlement program.
The plan has drawn support from the American Association of Retired Persons.
I think the AARP has truly acted like a political shill on this, Corker commented. I think theyve thrown their constituents under the bus on this.
That’s like taking one flea off the dog; there are millions more where that one came from. Any health care bill passed by Congress will be bad even if they knock off one or two of the basic violations of freedom.
Dang, the government-conrolled media is going all out for ObamaCare. Now both ABC (jake Tapper) and the Ay Pee are insisting that Sarah Palin’s characterization of the end-of-life provision in the bill was “debunked” — which is a total media lie.
Useful idiots.

When you see this video, it becomes very clear who the AARP thinks works for who.
I'm surprised Corker doesn't know that.
The major piece, the piece that the Dems will NEVER give up, their Holy Grail, is the PUBLIC OPTION. That is the central piece that will destroy private health insurance and lead to Socialized Medicine, and they KNOW it. Right now, they are in scramble mode, and the singular question on their minds is:
“How can we ram the public option through without looking like we’re ramming it through?”
They WILL attempt it. It’s only a question of packaging.
Better than term limits, retire all of the loons who are there now and implement a 'congressional duty' similar to 'jury duty'........ Let average people have a voice again......
Not to worry, they will get it back in during the House-Senate conference committee. Dingy Harry said so...
A “listenting” tour ... let me tell you what you think.
DONT YOU SEE?!?! They are trying to get ANYTHING passed so they have a template to fill out later, with ammendments, etc.
THE WHOLE freaking thing stinks like a Tijuana whore.
Note: INBN does not know what a Tijuana whore smells like, I'm quoting a MAXIM article I read, or was it GQ? Whatever, its quoted somewhere. /h
Don’t believe a word they say until the final bill is out of the Senate-House conference committee. That committee is likely to put back in, every repulsive thing into that damned bill. Then it will go back to the House and Senate for an up-or-down vote.
Remember “I voted against it, before I voted for it”? This is *exactly* that case.
The S.O.B.s will say “I was opposed to all parts of the bill, but I *had* to vote for it in the final form, because...”
Lies, all lies. The only safe thing to do is to not pass ANY bill.
That up or down vote is ALL that matters. If they vote for that damned bill, in ANY form, they need to be thrown out of office. NO EXCUSES. If they vote for that bill in ANY form, they FULLY support it.
They NEVER had to vote for that bill. NEVER. Not in committee. Not in the full chamber. Not in conference committee. And NOT, NO WAY AND NO HOW, in the final vote.
And what assurances do we have that it won’t just kind of sort of creep back in during the conference committee that gets the House and Senate versions together? Don’t trust them anymore.
