Companionship
I've decided to help My Pretty One sit and ponder
Since the Handsome One she's smitten with is traveling far and yonder
To do some things that neither of us understand
That create unwanted obstacles to the life that she had planned
Of raising rambunctious Little Ones and maintaining a pleasant home
That has slipped away until her special one returns from where he's roamed
Though the answer to so many questions may not hide in swirling, crackling flames
Interrupted occasionally when My Pretty One sighs or softly exclaim
That life is rarely fair, regardless of what one truly desires
As my Pretty One tries to hide her emotions that burn like the crackling fire
I'll stay close by to distract and try to allay any fears
And share her bed should I be needed to wipe away some tears

her grandson “hatchling” and....
