White House turns to campaign tactics as support erodes for health care reform

The Obama White House has turned to some of its successful election tactics to counter eroding support for its health care plans and the intensive organisation and vehemence of its opponents.

The latest survey shows that the backlash in public meetings with politicians against health reforms is sapping support for the flagship policy of Barack Obama's administration.

In a USA Today/Gallup poll, 34 per cent of a sample of Americans said that sessions with members of Congress had made them more sympathetic to the views of protesters. Some 21 per cent had become less sympathetic.

Most worryingly for the White House, independent voters – the key constituency in terms of persuading centrist Senators and congressmen – said by a more than two to one margin that they had become more sympathetic to the demonstrators against reform.

Advisers to the president have portrayed the protesters, who have sometimes angrily confronted member of Congress in televised forums, as zealots and partisan operatives marshaled by special interest groups.

But the White House is clearly worried and is returning to methods used during the election campaign that countered what the Obama camp regarded as smears and disinformation.

Its latest move is to send out an email from David Axelrod, Mr Obama's confidante and chief campaign strategist, with the subject line: "Something worth forwarding."

It appears, however, that most Americans view the health care protesters as genuine and representative. "No one condones the actions of those who disrupt public events," wrote John Boehner, Republican leader in the House of Representatives, in USA Today. "But those in Washington who dismiss the frustration of the American people and call it 'manufactured' do so at their own peril."

We now know that those campaign “tricks” were really LIES and tricks from the Saul Alinsky “Rules for Radicals” playbook... for example:

One of Obama’s early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an interviewer of The New Republic, about Obama:

“He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better.”

Watch Obama work a crowd at a town hall meeting. He comes out, says a few words in greeting and then begins his laundry list of all the stuff that’s wrong with America, getting the audience all revved up. When the crowd is engaged and sufficiently “pissed off,” Obama presents a solution to the all the things that are “pissing them off” — the chosen one, the anointed one, the Obama — as president.

Alinsky’s goal was to slowly turn the United States into a Communist dictatorship; to this end he tried to convince various groups of poor people and labor unions to push for legislation in that direction; he did this by appealing to their self-interest — whether valid or not — instead of using charismatic leadership — but now we have Obama, who is skilled in the Alinsky method and charismatic.

I am beginning to be thankful they are so hell bent at ramming socilized medicine down the throats of Americans.

This single issue has woken so many people up as to the true nature of who they just elected.

Well, I guess we know what Obama learned from 20 years of Sundays of watching Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

perfect characterization

Baraq got 99% of the dead people vote in 2008 and he intends to expand that class of voter dramatically in 2012.
