Gary is expected to be the Obama administration's "national model" for urban revitalization, according to U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has established a "Gary Project" that will seek to address issues of urban decay and foster economic development in the city, including demolition of vacant properties, according to Bayh, D-Ind.

First of all, Gary IS a model of government subsidies, grants, programs for the last 40 years.
Lastly, there is a housing glut (surplus) in this country. NW Indiana is no exception. Why would anyone want to move to Gary when it is much safer and cheaper to live in the surrounding area? Government assisted housing will fail (as it always has) if they try to do it now in Gary. I think the only logical thing for Gary is to reduce its size and have the new undevelopmed area become a park or nature preserve. This decision should be that of the City and Lake County, NOT Washington.
Like the same people that handled Gary native Michael Jackson?
Lake County abuts Crook, er, Cook County, and is nearly as dirty as Hudson County, NJ. Gary itself looks like something from “The Omega Man.”
Indiana is just next to Illinois. How much Chicago corruption has connections there?
I'm as "back to nature" as the next country girl, but by golly I love my indoor plumbing, internal combustion engines, and modern medicine!
at least Rudy looks the part
that sniveling twit Evan Bayh is the biggest con man (next to Baraq) in the country
So what racket is this Gary guy into? (hehehe)
Probably easier to answer what he is not into.
Lugar is not much better at this point.

Lugar was an OK RINO 30 yrs ago.
Now he’s a poster boy for term limits and senility prevention.
I dig the Mayor’s ‘70s muttonchops. ;-D
