Have a handful of left-wing advocacy groups been able to hurt Fox News Glenn Beck program by pressuring their advertisers to drop their ads?
Online left-wing news sources are claiming victory after several advertisers Sargento, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Progressive Insurance, Procter & Gamble, and SC Johnson have decided to move their spots to other Fox News programming from Becks program. However according to Fox News, its not costing the network any revenue.

Boycotts can be an extremely effective tool, one that conservatives and libertarians have ignored to their great disadvantage. Corporate America is largely socialist because of our tax codes and because government socialism fosters anti-competitive arrangements that benefit large corporations and punish small businesses and entrepreneurs. The GOP is in the tank for corporate interests, so they are no help whatsoever. Get organized and boycott socialist businesses, sanctuary cities, pro-abortion states, mainstream media propaganda outlets, Government Motors, union-thug companies, and so on.
I just got a response from P&G....pure obfuscation.
“Hi & thanks for contacting us.
We appreciate your taking the time to let us know how you feel. We hope you understand the preparation of news programs is handled entirely by the staff of the television network, and the selection of program content is based solely on their judgment. Advertisers aren’t given the opportunity to review news programs in advance. And the appearance of our ads on such shows indicates neither our approval nor our disapproval of the content.
Still, comments like yours help us determine the placement of our future ads, and I’m sharing your comments with the appropriate people in our Company.
Thanks again for getting in touch!
Sheri
P&G Team”
Thanks for sharing that - it will help me in the drafting of my letter to them. Of course we (on the right) recognize that they have no control over the content. But we also equally recognize that they have influence over it by virtue of their abrupt withdrawal of support.
Had they simply declined to continue to host a particular show (for whatever reason) at contract renewal time, it wouldn’t be an issue. But to yank their ads the way they did shows a disrespect for their business partner and contempt for their audience.
:) Boycott all they want...Glen will remain.
Wait till the 2010 and 2012 elections. Heres how I see it. Obumy will have acorn and the union thugs at all the polls, will let in only obumys voters. After he takes the 2012 election he will repeal the presidential term limits and we will watch as he rapes and pilliages the country after he opens the borders to all his mussy brothers. God help the USA.
Let’s keep a list of companies conservative should NOT buy from... Then again our “not buying” hasn’t worked with newspapers, magazines, or movies... /s
The girl who plays the ditzy saleslady on the Progressive commercials is a huge Obamaphile as well. The whole company is infested with lefties from top to bottom. I dropped them a long time ago. I don’t know if my current company (Liberty Mutual) is any better, but I like their name a lot better than “Progressive” (at least).
As for the sponsors, who in their right mind would remove advertising from one of the top rated NETWORKS in the country?
Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.
BTW Matthews has 750,000 viewers.
Same here.
"Thank you, first of all for your business and also for your interest in this matter. This week we took action to move our marketing messages from the Glenn Beck show and you are wondering why. Well you deserve an answer. If the inflammatory nature of the comments on a program overshadows our message and causes GEICO to be drawn into a national debate, we are likely to reconsider where we place our marketing messages, which is what we did. GEICO delivers very important messages through its major marketing campaigns: were saving customers dollars, were easy to do business with, were looking out for our policyholders. Thats what we hope the public hears and sees and focuses on. As a company, we do not take positions on controversial issues. As an advertiser, while a national debate on issues can be healthy and appropriate, we dont see ourselves in the role of taking part in those debates. Our business is auto insurance. We want to bring people value and we attempt to reach large audiences with that message. It is of little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out."
It would appear that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackup are not the only race pimps.Suggest you read both sites with GEICo respone to get the full favor of what or who is going down.
Gentlemen,
It has come to my attention that you have pulled your advertisements from Fox during the Glenn Beck Show.
Its your money (at least until the new, improved tax increases kick in) and you may do with it whatever you wish.
I am, however, curious as to your reasons for doing so. Among the possibilities are the philosophical (read that liberal/statist) orientation of the majority of your management/ownership, the fear that Becks controversial and after 30+ years of study of history and CORRECT positions will offend existing or potential customers and, of course, simple FEAR that the corrupt Chicago mob now infesting Washington will engage in economic or other reprisals against those who oppose them (as they now have against Beck). That is, after all, The Chicago Way.
And THIS extended family unit will do what IT wishes with its money. As of now, that will include NOT purchasing ANY product or service your firm produces or provides.
Im sharing this information with everyone with whom I have contact on the net and off until Obama and his minions declare the First Amendment null and void, making such communications criminal offenses.
If Obamas continued destruction of the economy doesnt cause you further distress, perhaps a good old-fashioned boycott will.
Youre probably not the least bit interested but heres a little 7 minute video to give you something to think about:
