Spilled milk turns deadly: Girl, 13, kills step-grandfather in Milwaukee

A 13-year-old Milwaukee girl is accused of fatally stabbing her step-grandfather because he poured the milk for her cereal down the drain.

Authorities say the bloodshed was the result of a long feud between Robert Moon, 48, said Labrina Brown.

After Moon dumped the milk - saying another child in the house had to be fed first - Brown grabbed a paring knife and stabbed him in the neck, police said.

"She stabbed me, she stabbed me in the neck," Moon said as he collapsed Saturday.

Cops said Brown told a neighbor: "I stabbed him! I cut his throat! He's dead ... I'm not afraid to go to jail for this."

She was held on a reckless homicide charge.

Public defender Joy Sherard said county officials had intervened in the household the past. "This is about more than spilled milk," she said.

Clearly, food related violence is spiraling out of control.

When will people wake up and realize that food can only be safely controled by the government? How many more food related tragedies must befall us before Obama steps in and takes food from irresponsible people?

I think she took the old adage about not crying over it a little TOO seriously.

It sounds like this girl was abused or mentally abused. Poor her food down the drain because another child was to be fed first?

I would bet there is a back story of longtime emotional abuse of this girl by “step grandfather”

When a 13 year old girl is not afraid to go to jail, something is wrong with her perception of jail.

Remember that movie "Scared Straight" and how much ridicule it gets now days? Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all.

It may seem a better, safer place in HER mind. Chances are good that she was being abused, possibly "Daddy's little girl"...

Step Grandfather? Hum, kind of like someone being raised by the grand parents perhaps?

Another broken family tragedy.

Kids who have to live with hypervigilance against abusers in their own homes, may view Juvie Hall life as more survivable, safer, and easier.

Tell you what, when I was in 6th grade they took our class through an EMPTY cell block in the Clark County NV jail and I knew just from looking at those cages that that was a place I never wanted to be. I didn't even need to hear any criminals telling me how bad it would be.

The article doesn’t read clearly. Moon was embroiled in some kind of feud with himself?!?

Everyone seems to be blaming the grandfather. My guess is the g-daughter is an out of control street punk with no more regard for human life than a pizzed off rattler.

Either that or something is wrong with the reality of her life in that environment.

Actually should have written "grand-daddy". 13 yr olds are succulent tidbits to perverts! He was 48.

The 13-year-old girl police say cut her step-grandfather's throat because of a dispute over milk was receiving child welfare services, her attorney said Tuesday while indicating that the reasons for the homicide went deeper than a family squabble.

"This case is about more than milk," the attorney, Joy Sherard, told Court Commissioner Kevin M. Costello during Labrina Brown's initial appearance in Children's Court. -JSOnline
