Good question, especially given the sign this guy was carrying. Considering the lengths to which the Secret Service normally goes to investigate threats against the president, Im amazed he wasnt hauled in for questioning at the scene as a potential threat. People are going to beat the Second Amendment drum in the comments, but (a) I doubt it would have sat well with our readers if lefties carrying Bushitler signs had shown up to Dubyas events packing heat and (b) having a right doesnt mean youre obliged to exercise it, particularly in circumstances where it would be provocative to do so.
Hmm... Let's choose! Given the choice of a) a pick axe handle vs. a can of pepper spray, or b) a pick axe handle vs. a firearm?
I'll take "b" please!
A firearm is definitely more effective (in the permanent sense), and a solid deterrent (which is why I carry). But don’t discount the effectiveness of pepper spray: with it, I can reach the holder of the pickaxe handle out of his effective range, and within 2 seconds he will be in extreme pain and virtually unable to see.
And for some reason you think they won’t do that anyway? Have you been paying attention? They don’t need a reason, we are already and angry, white racist, brooks brothers wearing, violent, domestic terrorists. It is about time we stopped being terrified of these a**hats and started doing what is right. This guy committed a legal act. He was well within his rights and instead of calling him an idiot, call yourself not only idiot, but coward as well for not standing up for this guy exercising his God given rights.
I’m sorry folks, I appear to be a bit slow today. How does anyone exercising their rights, in accordance with state and federal law, make anyone look bad.
Are you implying that because a I, or any one else, am making someone “uncomfortable” that I have to give up my right to perform that act? That I, as a well rounded adult, have to pander to everyone’s irrational fears?
I think not.
And within that 2 seconds he will have busted open you noggin like a ripe melon.
you = your
Given a choice, I'd prefer to have my .45. But as in this event, with Secret Service personnel everywhere it might not have been too practical.
Pepper spray is cruel and unusual punishment. My method, if properly applied, is virtually painless to the perp. /sarc
Well, Mr Pickhandle would be stopped by other means. And even if the coward backshot me, what good would a firearm do?
Believe me when I say I would defend myself, my family, my country and my God to the death.
Sorry but no. I am up to date all all these things. Thanks for your concern.
It dont matter if he touches the trigger. As long as a firearm is in view, it can be used as a weapon against conservatives.
I am not say it is fair or right, but it is the truth. Obama and his propaganda machine is one that is unmatched even by NAZI standards. We must use our heads if we want to beat this man.
We must stand up for our rights if we are to keep them in the face of adversity.
But we must be smarter. We stand up for our rights by attending townhall meetings, voicing our opinions, voting for the conservative. Holding those politcians feet to the fire.
And when/if the time come to resort to gun to defend our rights, then we will do so.
“I knew you’d be here, and have a girly hissy fit about it.”
Smarter is alway better.
Now, just what constitutes "smarter" is debatable... ;0)
Yes, thank you for catching my typo. Sometimes I get a little ADD when I’m typing about things I feel strongly about.
Good point. But as long as we are smarter that your average Obama drone, we cant lose, right?
Why should I when, for no good reason but the ire of those who despise you, you would disarm yourself?
Matthews was a goner from the get-go, screaming and cursing at a private citizen he had invited onto his show, and getting nothing back but calm and thoughtful responses. Two thumbs up!!
Thank you, Anna, I couldn't believe foaming at the Matthew's said G%^ D^#* gun. What a classless buffoon.
