Hmmmm...

no mention of the energy required to charge the batteries.

So... this thing must ACTUALLY get 230 miles per gallon with no additional energy added to the system.

I am amazed!

Everyone knows that electricity does not cost a penny and does not add any greenhouse gases to our atmosphere. Pay $40k for an instant clunker and drive it for free forever

I’ll be interested to see how they “solve” some of the problems inherent with electric cars. Though, I have to share some of the skepticism of others on this thread.

but under his highness Obamagoon I, electricity rates “ will necessarily skyrocket”, so an elctric car will cost more to run.

Was watching “Brooke Knows Best” on VH1 the other day and Brooke and Hulk Hogan took an electric car out for a drive in Miami. The thing ran out of juice and died right on a busy street. People were honking and Brooke had to get out and push the thing to the side of the road. Hilarious.

Great 230 miles per gallon.
On a car that DOES NOT RUN ON GASOLINE..
What is the cost to run it on its source of power electricity?
Do these people think that all American Citizens are stupid ??
So you pay $40,000 for some little piece of crap.
What is the insurance going to cost?
What are the projected repair costs on this vehicles power source
They can hype 230 MPG all they want.Does not mean the car is good or cost effective.

When I’m walking, I get an infinite number of miles per gallon. My bicycle gets nearly that mileage, but I have to pour more water into my mouth when I’m riding, so my mileage suffers to only 1,056,234,123 miles per gallon (of water).

This has to be that carburetor that the car companies “stole” from that guy that claimed he could get 60mpg years ago.

Since 52% of any household electricity used to recharge the Volt comes from coal, instead of miles per gallon, the news should be announced in miles per pound of coal.

All of the above, plus when you trade it in, sell it, or replace the battery pack every several years you will be hit with a battery disposal tax of thousands of dollars.

A cost of $40,000? Is someone nuts?
I remind people, if I may, that the United States of America was built from nothing utilizing a mode of transportation that consumed absolutely NO gasoline whatever. It carried goods, people, food, and everything needed to build a great country.
It was called the HORSE DRAWN COVERED WAGON. Environmental purity on eight hooves and four wheels.
NO gas, no coal, no electricity, no nukes, no noise pollution, no traffic jams. A little problem with flies, though. Well, can’t have everything.

The Mobile Economy Run used to get well over 200MPG regularly. I got 24mpg with a 58 Chevy pickup. The model T got 25 mpg at 20 mpg and now we get 3 to 4 times the the power and mileage than then. The gas now has little power next to what it did and of course the EPA has declared the old efficiencies illegal.

Does anyone have technical details on the recharge cycle? IOW how many KWHs of home electricity do I have to pump into this thing in a typical 1000 mile month?

Even if it gets 230 mpg it will cost more to drive if crap and trade is passed because the cost of electricity (Volt fuel) will skyrocket per our Nazi Fuehrer.
