"Family Guy" has gone too far: upcoming episode censored (Lois had the abortion)

They’re known for pushing the envelope, but this time “Family Guy” has gone too far, says Fox.

The network known for politically incorrect cartoons and shows like "More to Love" has declined to air an episode of "Family Guy" that features a graphic depiction of an abortion, according to a Reuters report. The episode will be included on DVD.

Set to run next season, the episode follows Lois Griffin, the family’s matriarch, as she becomes a surrogate mother for an infertile couple. After the couple is unexpectedly killed in a car accident, Lois is left with a tough decision about whether to have the baby. "Partial Terms of Endearment," as the episode is called, is "very graphic, very morbid" especially when it comes to the abortion process, sources say.

The episode was written to end on a vague note, leaving it unclear to viewers whether Lois had had the abortion or not. However, the creator of the series, Seth MacFarlane changed that by adding a coda where Peter, Lois’ husband, peeks his head into the screen’s frame and says, "She had the abortion."

Of course, a TV network can't censor. Only the government can censor.

But there is no reason whatsoever for having this episode, other than to shock.

The scary part is that I'm afraid that the episode wouldn't have shocked that many people.

From the description, it’s hard to tell if it is pro life or anti life.

They “censored” it because it was graphic and dark.
If it had been a happy, “I’m all better now” abortion, it would have aired.

And adding to that, I hope the guys from SouthPark decide to do a show making fun of this Family Guy.

Although I don’t watch either, I like to see them shoot it out.

Actually, I could see how a graphic depiction of an abortion would be useful. The pro-abortion crowd likes to sanitize the procedure as mere "reproductive healthcare," and the like.

Graphically showing what it actually is serves to counter that and to remind the public that it is really a form of homicide..

This is one of the few programs that are not allowed on in my house. The occasional laugh is not worth the overall toxic tone of the writing.

I second that! It is a dumb show and frankly not funny to me. Watched it once when I couldn’t get out of it and NEVER again.

Too bad Fox doesn’t “abort” this show. There’s a reason South Park made fun of this show. SP’s funny, this show is randomly stupid and pointless.

I don’t watch Family Guy...never have or will. Personally, this sounds like stirring up controversy in order to sell the dvd.

I consider myself to be very bright and I watch Family Guy. Nice generalization there. In fact my whole family watches it. Some days, I wonder if I should even be here on Free Republic.

That being said, I am glad this episode is not airing, that discussion is not for a cartoon to delve into.

It won’t shock anyone in our household. We quit watching years ago.
