'BBC America has picked up the US rights to air the upcoming fifth season of Doctor Who, it has been announced.
The new run, which sees Matt Smith take over from David Tennant in the lead role, is currently being filmed in Cardiff, Wales. The thirteen-episode fifth season will air on BBC America and BBC America HD in Q2 2010 shortly after its UK premiere.'

P.S.
Why does the doctor keep changing?
I'm happy it's here, but BBCA horribly edits Dr. Who in its repeats. I have to make sure I see them first-run.
(Okay, maybe not "horribly", but there are funny bits that I know are missing the second time around. And I just can't afford boxed sets of every season.)
Not to say that I don't like David (I do), but it took seeing David to get a better appreciation for Chris. Plus, it took Chris a couple of episodes to hit his stride.
I asked my wife if she remembered that epidode but she doesn’t. I can understand why you’d be ticked off being called Hyacinth. Part of the reason my wife liked the show is she knew someone who treated her husband like Hyacinth does hers/
Richard is offered early retirement and so ponders over the possibility of having to spend all, day everyday with Hyacinth. Emmett is enraged when Hyacinth ends up rehearsing a performance for the old people at the Church Hall with him (she sings, off key, “You can’t get a man with a gun” from Annie Oakley), and a tranquilised Rose arrives at the scene wanting to become a nun. Rose ends up in the closet with the Vicar, who has gone there to hide from Hyacinth, and the Vicar’s wife arrives and finds them. Rose, who has collapsed on top of the Vicar, tells the Vicar’s wife: “It’s all right. I’m going to be a nun.”
The Doctor ‘regenerates’ into a new body whenever he’s mortally wounded. This allows the show to run for 20+ consecutive years without worries about what happens if an actor wants to do something else or dies or something like that. Since it was written into the show so early on, the fans are generally quite accepting of the fact.
Interesting.
Thank you.
I’ve seen that episode and you’re right it was funny. I’ve probably only seen 10-15 episodes and that happens to be one of them.
Definitely an acquired taste, but once you have acquired it, it becomes addictive. I love it, and I don’t even like science fiction.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You got that right!
After watching the first three episodes with Matt Smith I am not that impressed. The first three seasons were the best with the fourth being about 50/50. This new fifth season has me at about a 40 percent approval rating.
On the other hand I did get a laugh out of this UK Comic Relief skit with David Tennant and Catherine.

It's odd. The production values are excellent, the attention to detail is exacting, the acting is excellent (Matt Smith is good as the Doctor and Karen Gillian is a great assistant) and the special effects are better than ever. The problem is the writing. There were so many gaps in the plot of "victory of the Daleks" you could have flown a fleet of tardis' through them. When the pepperpots got the testimony, why did they beam straight back to their ship rather than "exterminating" all and sundry (including their greatest enemy)? How did the spitfires get fitted for space travel so quickly? How do they fly through space with prop engines? How come the "crippled" dalek spaceship is suddenly fully able to speed off through time at the end? Why don't they blow the earth up before they go? Why don't they exterminate the Doctor immediately they find out he doesn't have a Tardis self-destruct? If the Daleks in the Time war had access to genetically superior Daleks, why didn't they create them straightaway rather than keeping going with "inferior" ones? And on, and on...
I haven't given up yet (the first half of season three started with some mediocre episodes before the triumphs of "blink" and "Family of Blood", but they have got to do better than this...
