What were seeing in Washington these days is beginning to look like Jimmy Carter II.
Carter, like Barack Obama, started out with the idea of stimulating the economy.
His plan was to give every taxpayer $50, then throw in a few billion for tax cuts and public works programs. Simple, right? Wrong: In Washington, this soon became very complicated. Within a month, the package grew from $20 billion to more than $31 billion a significant amount in the 1970s.
Special-interest groups piled on. Unions, minorities, the sugar lobby, bankers, shoe manufacturers all clamored for a piece of the pie, all wanted to know: Wheres mine?
In April of his first year in office, Carter finally threw up his hands and scrapped the whole idea. He had dithered for four months. He had nothing to show for the effort. By then he was fatally diminished, his authority substantially eroded.
With the Obama administration, a similar unraveling is well under way and gathering momentum. Voters are increasingly restive. The country is souring on Obamas gargantuan policy ambitions. The sense is growing that he has grossly overplayed his hand.
Like Carter, Obama looks increasingly like a president out of step with the times. Like Carter, there is a large gap between what voters expected based on the measured and moderate tone of his campaign and what began unfolding after his inauguration. Obama ran as a centrist, but he is governing from the left.
In one recent poll, support for Obamas $787 billion stimulus package had dropped to 34 percent. Seventy-one percent agreed Obama had increased the size of the federal deficit. His overall approval rating in the Quinnipiac poll has fallen to 50 percent from 57 percent in June.
In another Quinnipiac poll, nearly 75 percent of...

IIRC, the number of split districts that voted for the GOP nominee for President and a rat for the House goes to 61 when you include GWB. There were 34 Congressional Districts won by the GOP that were also won by Obama in 2008. The GOP didn't field candidates in eight districts last year.
Please join the “You’re Fired” Campaign putting politicians in office on notice. The American people have been betrayed. Arrogant Elitist Politicians care about nothing but personal power. Please read the details of this campaign and forward this to your email address book. Print it out and hand it to your neighbors and friends. Our country and our freedom are at stake as well as your children and grandchildren’s futures. If you do nothing else, forward this to everyone and forward it to your elected Elitist. Time to clean out the Congress and start over with patriotic Americans with integrity that love this country more than their own personal power.

The difference, of course, is that Jimmuh didn’t have ACORN and Union Thugs, Inc. to go out and beat people up, intimidate everyone who dares to disagree with him and COMPLETE co-operation of a corrupt, biased main stream media...we will need to “punch back even harder” than they do to get this Kenyan Mutt out of the WH...I say DC on the week of 9/11 is the time to do it...
But if you actually read about his background before the primaries, you knew all along that he was no centrist.

Its not too late for Obama to make a major adjustment. Bill Clintons initial months were equally turbulent. He was savvy enough to make a mid-course correction but it came only after the election of a Republican Congress. On his present course, Obama is making that eventuality increasingly likely.
With all Clinton's faults he knew when he had to adjust course to save his own neck. I don't think Obama's ego will allow him to back off his grand plan and it will be his undoing. I hope we can survive in the meantime.
Hey KC Star, you should have done you homework before endorsing Obama.
The very fact that this appeared in the KC Star, by one of its own, says even more about The One’s perilous position. The paper is a megaphone for the DNC.
I expect next summer to be even more violent than this one.
Do you remember Carter Nash who was crime fighting hero Captain Nice????????????
This is a good one for Baby Boomers watching TV in the 1960’s.
Bonus question, what actor played Captain Nice????????????
Was it William Daniels (St. Elsewhere)?
Sadly we may very well see violence reminiscent of the 60’s if Congress and Obama keep dismissing the mood of the electorate. Obama’s narcissism prevents him from seeing reality. In his mind he is the star the world revolves around. He is drunk on power. The man is psycho.
Whoa baby----with numbers like these, Obamadinejad is soon to be gracing the cover of grocery check-out tabloids under the heading:
"Michelle on Desperate Suicide Watch for Hubby",
"White House Staffers making sure the powerful Prescription Meds are Hidden and Booze Removed"
"Secret Service keep closer watch on Increasingly Bizarre Bambi Behavior"
YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saw another baby boomer show of the same year, 1967,
Mr. Terrific. Mild mannered Stanley Beamish, worked at a gas station but his alter ego was Top Secrect Agent Mr. Terrific.
Anyone remember that show??????????????????
Ah the good old days of real TV in the Golden Age.
BTTT.

Of course, I'd also like to oogle Anne's sister Paula in He and She. Couldn't get enough of those Prentiss sisters. IIRC, Anne described herself as the "cow-eyed sister", while Paula was more doe-eyed. Either way, they were both very babish.
Too bad Anne ended up going bonkers. Must be something about Hollyweord that does that.
