US strike on Iran 'feasible and credible': retired general

A devastating US military strike against Iran's nuclear and military facilities "is a technically feasible and credible option," a retired general asserted in an article published on Friday. Retired air force general Charles Wald, a former deputy commander of US forces in Europe, said US policy makers must prepare for a "Plan B," including the military's role, should diplomacy fail.

"A peaceful resolution of the threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions would certainly be the best possible outcome," Wald wrote in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal.

"But should diplomacy and economic pressure fail, a US military strike against Iran is a technically feasible and credible option," he said.

Wald's views were in striking contrast with those of the Pentagon's top civilian and military leaders, who have warned repeatedly that military action against Iran would be highly destabilizing.

In a related development, the State Department's intelligence arm has concluded that Iran is unlikely to have the technical capability to produce highly enriched uranium for nuclear weapons before 2013, according to a newly released congressional document.

US intelligence chief Dennis Blair has said Iran could have the technical means to produce bomb-grade material as early as 2010, although there is no evidence it has made a political decision to do so.

Obama will not. The perfect opportunity was to Green light Israel during the election unrest. I hear that even the Saudis were willing to let Israel fly over. Obama Red lighted the plan Israel had ready to go. My god they did two trial runs. Obama is protcting the Mullahs for some reason.

I think Obama wants Iran to get nukes. His plan is probably to end up trying to get Israel to give up its nukes in exchange for Irans nukes. A perfectly reasonable plan for the flawed Liberal mind.

Hey, as recently as December 2008, prior President George W. Bush stated in unequivocal terms that America “would not permit Iran to have a nuclear weapon”, so everybody stop worrying, this problem was taken care of by the LAST Administration, ok?

The problem right now are the two top line Russian Nuclear Attack submarines off out East Coast. That seems a little more important to the American People at present. Anyone know if those Russian Super Sonic Cruise missiles have ever been fired from a submarine ?

It is very possible and is a planned outcome under national policy. Just look at a map of Iran and the countries surrounding her, and you see she is surrounded by US Air Bases and Military power from every angle. Iran is compmletey surrounded.

Imagine a day when Hezbolla, Hamas and the agents from the Quad's forces are no longer supported by a country but rather on the run just like Al Quada.... Hunt them down after the regime is toppled.

It is very possible.

Don't know the answer to that but you can be sure such weapons are NOT targeted on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, after all:

Why would the Soviets, errr RUSSIANS attack their ALLIES?!?

Obama will not...

I think he will. 0' viewing the domestic scene around him, unemployment near 10% (actual 16%+), word spreading that porkulus was a big payoff to his cronies, trouble with Health Control, mean Americans playing games with his Snitch Program and forwarding Joker images around, 0' will see opportunity in doing "something" about Iran. Bear in mind, though, that what he does will be ineffectual, will stir up the mid-east, and actually help Iran get nukes. We'll learn later that the sites bombed actually happen to produce aspirins.

For a distraction I think Obama would rather invade Honduras than bomb Irans Nukes.

Its my understanding that the 2 subs off the east coast do not have any missile capability. The sub off Carolina is spying on the port that our subs transit from. It is designed to attack subs, but more important under the circumstances, is being used for surveillance.
