Perhaps you've seen the mysterious (and maddening) advertising blitz popping up on cable TV, elevator-TV screens and the internet this week. It features a smiling and winking electrical outlet that end up being the zero in the number 230, which itself appears above the numbers "8-11."
Some virtual detective work by Advertising Age -- and rounds of phone calls -- reveal the marketer behind the effort is General Motors Co. But neither the company nor its agencies would say exactly what the campaign is for.
"I'm glad it's getting out there," but no one wants to talk about it until next Tuesday, said Mike Rosen, president of GM agency Starcom, New York, who then declined to offer further comment.
A Chevrolet spokesman said he had no information on the 230 site and whether it was linked to the Chevrolet Volt, GM's upcoming electric car. He added that GM has scheduled a press conference for Aug. 11, but he cautioned it is not necessarily related to the 230 teaser site. He declined to make further comment....

Probably the left’s lie that the electric car will get the equivalent of 230 miles/gallon of gas for the equivalent cost in electricity. They don’t tell you that’s probably based on today’s electrical costs. Imagine every household with an electric car....electrical infrastructure couldn’t handle that. Also with the introduction of Cap’n Tax, you’d be paying out the wahzoo 5 years down the road...
Easy. 230 is the final estimate on how many years the USA will make it before collapse.
That means the smart money is on total collapse in the year 2018 (230 years from the ratification of the Constitution).
Thats how many hundred thousand miles you need to drive your car until you even think about not being upside down.
I think it means “environmentally”, that driving this car will be like taking another 230 cars off the road. The bigger question is, Well, how will those other guys get to work?
nah, to recharge it you will have to get your house rewired for 230 (or 229, whatever it takes).
How many billions of dollars will be funneled to the UAW while President Zero is in office.

Yeah, that’s my guess. You’ll probably need to charge the thing on a 230v 40amp outlet (kind of like an electric clothes dryer)
So then the electric car can be the equivalent of adding another air conditioner to your house - so that it can save energy (except for your $500/mo el. bill) and reduce emissions (except for the tons of coal burned to generate the electricity).
I wonder how big a share of GM I’ll be able to buy after Government ownership/management devastates it’s share value.
The number of days it will run before you have to replace the environmentally unfriendly battery pack with another UAW-approved one.
They still have a vast majority of stimulus money to hand out.

first of all - me buying a government motors car? Never going to happen. second - why would anyone buy an electric car???
Let’s do some math:
Gasoline 1 gallon = 125,000 BTUs
Electricity 1 kw = 3,413 BTUs
Assume one gallon of gasoline costs $2.50 today. To get the equivalent energy from electricity, you need 36.6 kw. I pay 13.125 cents/kw - that is $4.80 today!
Why would anyone want to trade gasoline powered car for an electricity powered one?
Great movie but I think the managers from the script are actually running GM now.
