Remember the good old days, when one only had to watch out for the Federal Governments twisted interpretation of the commerce clause to justify tyranny?
Well those days seem to be long gone. The Obama Administration has been employing an old tactic lately what some might call an imperial threat and theyre not doing it overseas, either.
The state of Oklahoma is now the target of a direct challenge from US Attorney General Eric Holder, who is using the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as justification to violate Oklahomas sovereignty as affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution.
In a letter written to the State Attorney General in April, the Federal government used aggressive language, bringing up the possibility of withholding Federal funds appropriated for Oklahoma. The reason? A proposed amendment to the State Constitution, which requires voter approval, that would make English the official language of the State.
What it indicates is the Federal Governments contempt for the states, in this case Oklahoma, and for the idea of federal as opposed to national government. AG Holder believes that Oklahoma is an administrative subdivision of the USA, and that it is perfectly right for him to coerce Oklahomans to do his will. Who cares whether he has ever been to Oklahoma, met an Oklahoman, or thought about Oklahoma? said Kevin Gutzman, an American historian and bestselling author.
DESTROYING LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Both of these letters, particularly this letter to the Attorney General of Oklahoma, are very officious, observed Rob Natelson, professor of law at the University of Montana. It reminds one eerily of the kinds of communications that started to come out from the Emperor to the local cities of the Roman Empire, beginning the course of the ultimate destruction of local government.

That measure is already been submitted and is picking up additional sponsors. I will see if I can find the State Rep who started that drive to get it into law in OK.
LOL!!! Took me a minute to understand what that meant! Way to go!
Welcome to Oklahoma! Came here in January 2007 from Texas.
Several years ago if you want to an Emergency Room you had to wait for the illegals to be processed. Since we got the tough immigration bill passed, there are very few illegals left in OK at least in the OKC metro that I would come in contact. It is great! You can walk in an emergency room and not hear Spanish.
Please, look this up and get back to us about it. A NBC measure in any of the 50 states = ultimate victory for the birthers and last laugh. He'll have to cough it up in 2011, so why not now?
And even if the state be ever so Red like OK, the down ballot Dems will need Obama to be on the ballot. So, he can't blow OK off.
Wow! I live on a different planet in my state. If you are not a rabid Leftist, you flunk out. Period... Lets use OU as the model...
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=101492 — Dr. Coburn is now backing the bill that only lacked a couple of votes in January in the OK House of making it onto the floor. You can bet it will be heard this next year.
That will give Holder another reason to come after Oklahoma.
Republicans took over the County where OU is located about six years ago that had always been Dem. College Republicans are very active on OU and never hear anything from the Dems.
During the Presidential primary I worked with two really nice Republican students from OU and it was interesting to get their perspective on their professors.
Pres Boren who is a Dem also worked to help Bush #41 get Clarence Thomas on the SCOTUS. When we moved here in Jan 1997, (think I put 2007 on another post) Anita Hill was on the OU Law School faculty and some far left Women had donated money for an endowed chair. Boren refused to match the money and eventually transferred to the Tulsa campus, cut her classes as she received poor marks from the students for her classes, refused to speak to her at events, and finally he drove her out. Right after she resigned and was real snarky about it, he returned the money for the endowed chair.
Met one of the OU Law School faculty and he used to be the Treasurer to the County GOP.
We have been very fortunate not to have a bunch of liberal colleges. OSU is not liberal either. In the English Department, some of the grad students got irritated at what was being put on the bulletin board because it was biased liberal.
Think it was great that the kids saw both sides and could make up their mind without someone pushing their agenda. We have a large ROTC program as well. As someone told me, this is Oklahoma not the coasts.
You mean the affirmative action thing didn't work out? Glad to hear OU is an island of sanity in a leftist dominated industry... You are lucky!
Drew Edmondson?
A new graphic for this one. If anybody is terribly offended or acquires a case of the vapors just hit the abuse button and I'll repost with the regular 10th Amendment graphic. An aside: Libtards who accuse conservatives of forming herds to protest ANYTHING have never tried to organize conservatives! Herding cats is the operative expression I believe. Without further ado...
Please ~ping~ me to articles relating to the 10th Amendment/States Rights so I can engage the pinger.
I've stopped scouring threads and unilaterally adding names to the ping list, so if you want on or off the list just say so.

I like the graphic! [ I’m stealing it too LOL ]
ROTFLMAOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I LOVE IT!
Yes, GREAT graphic!
Thanks. No protests yet. I can’t decide if that’s a bad thing or not — nah...
I thought you were in Tulsa. You are in OKC?
;^)
I must report however, I have had one protest, and there's plenty of time for anyone that wants to hit abuse. I can understand any misgivings anyone might have. I think I'll put it on my Freeper home page for storage in case the post gets pulled.
No, that’s playing the game according to their rules. Where did it come down on a shaft of light between the clouds that the feds are the only ones who get to participate in rule making? If they withhold $100,000,000 in “Federal Funds”, OK should simply find a way to send $100,000,000 less in income tax withholding.
Why? What purpose do the Marxists serve in the first place?
