Remember the good old days, when one only had to watch out for the Federal Government’s twisted interpretation of the commerce clause to justify tyranny?
Well those days seem to be long gone. The Obama Administration has been employing an old tactic lately – what some might call an imperial threat – and they’re not doing it overseas, either.
The state of Oklahoma is now the target of a direct challenge from US Attorney General Eric Holder, who is using the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as justification to violate Oklahoma’s sovereignty as affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution.
In a letter written to the State Attorney General in April, the Federal government used aggressive language, bringing up the possibility of withholding Federal funds appropriated for Oklahoma. The reason? A proposed amendment to the State Constitution, which requires voter approval, that would make English the official language of the State.
“What it indicates is the Federal Government’s contempt for the states, in this case Oklahoma, and for the idea of federal — as opposed to national — government. AG Holder believes that Oklahoma is an administrative subdivision of the USA, and that it is perfectly right for him to coerce Oklahomans to do his will. Who cares whether he has ever been to Oklahoma, met an Oklahoman, or thought about Oklahoma?” said Kevin Gutzman, an American historian and bestselling author.

“Both of these letters, particularly this letter to the Attorney General of Oklahoma, are very officious,” observed Rob Natelson, professor of law at the University of Montana. “It reminds one eerily of the kinds of communications that started to come out from the Emperor to the local cities of the Roman Empire, beginning the course of the ultimate destruction of local government.”

This Texan agrees. We need to make sure Rick Perry knows what is going on, I’m sure he does, but just saying. Rick has been accused of lots of things, and some of his proposals I certainly didn’t agree with, but as of late he seems to be seeing it the way we do. I think he knows Ogabe will never do anything constructive for Texas, only try to rape the workers and citizens here. I’m going to e-mail him

Perry has probably gotten a similar letter from Holder..the gitmo terrorist’s lawyer. Perry is not going to put up with Ogabe for one minute..lol...and neither are the citizens of Texas. I have talked to several people here this morning and they are steaming mad about these Obama goons beating up on folks at these townhalls across the country. They had better not try it here or they are going to get their asses kicked!
Oklahoma needs to show how seriously they take the Constitution by passing a law starting in 2012 that requires Presidential candidates that want to appear on the Oklahoma ballot to submit an original BC to prove NBC.

I moved here (Edmond) last year and I love it. Several friends and family also want to move (one is actually doing so now). I think we are going to see a BIG backlash against illegals because of the health care bill. Like the lady at the AARP meeting said, there is a correlation between our huge medical cost increase and our huge illegal population. People will soon figure it out.
That will be coming also.

I just got back from Tulsa about an hour ago. I knew ZERO was disliked on our side of the state (OKC) but their Democrat Mayor Kathy Taylor is not running for reelection — Obama supporter. I had several people tell me that there is no way with her supporting Obama in November she could get elected dog catcher. Some expect her to join his Administration which would be even dumber.
Been waiting for ZERO to attack Oklahoma since we had every county go for McCain. Everywhere I go is a “Bring it on” mentality toward the DOJ Holder and ZERO.
Don’t know how many people I have heard say they want TX and OK to become independent and tell the Federal Government to ....
We have a RAT Doofus Governor until Jan 2011 but he is about to meet a buzzsaw in the next session of the legisture.
Want to see Holder/Obama telling our new Governor Mary Fallin that they are withholding money. Heard she had a great Town Hall in northern OK. She will not be pushed around.
ZERO and Holder are helping Mary get elected!
Our State Treasuer is a Democrat who would send it to DC. Republicans are looking to take back State Government in 2010. I say open an account only the Legislature can touch — they are all Republican. I wouldn’t trust the Doofus Henry who supported ZERO or any of his statewide office holders.
Kim Holland, the Insurance Commissioner, is one nasty person and needs to go with the rest of the Dems.
We also passed one of the toughest immigration laws in the US — we lost a lot of illegals. Governor Doofus thought the OK Supremes would overturn the bill he did sign — they had the votes to override but they didn’t.
We have a ballot issue requiring voter picture ID coming up as well. Bet Holder goes after us on that. This State NEVER like ZERO but now I am even hearing from Dems that cannot stand him or they hate Holder.
Our universities for the most part don’t have a lot of liberal professors. We have the ONLY public university at OU with a Journalism College that leans right and expect every graduate to honor Journalism ethics. The dean when my daughter graduated from Gaylord said he would hunt down any graduate that didn’t follow ethics in their journalism career and they would have to answer to him.
Have had two kids graduate from OU and most of the time they cannot tell you from their classes who is liberal or conservative. President Boren who teaches a political science class has one of the most requested classes on campus and everyone I have known who has taken his class has come away with a true history of Government and politics. I only talk to College Republicans who have taken the course and they loved it.
Very, very happy with the education they received at OU.
