A 26-year old Greek woman has become an overnight national hero after setting fire to the genitals of a 23-year old drunken Briton who allegedly tried to sexually assault her in a crowded bar.
The unidentified woman from the fiercely proud island of Crete won herself even more praise by doing the right legal thing turning herself over to police and the courts to be put on trial for what she claimed was her "right to self-defence". ..
According to a police statement issued last night the incident occurred at a club in the notorious coastal resort of Malia, which is dominated by young Britons seeking all-night revelry. It alleged the Briton took down his trousers and started waving his genitals at a number of girls...
After asking him to stop harassing her, the police said, she poured the alcoholic drink Sabucco on his genitals (an Italian brand type of Greek ouzo or French Pernod drink). This again allegedly failed to stop his advances, so the woman seized a lighter and set fire to the alcohol-drenched genitals, local press reports said.

sounds good. so burning, stabbing, and shooting would all be ok when confronted with a persistent drunk person.
just want to understand the rules.
if you have any kids in college, you might want to enlighten them before they go out to a kegger...
For a slightly different take on this story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1204956/Greek-woman-set-drunk-Britons-genitals-flaming-Sambuca-national-heroine.html
Tell me, FRiend, what would you want your daughters to do, if in the same situation?
GOODNESS GRACIOUS GREAT BALLS OF FIRE...PING!!!!
either way, it would seem he wasn't exposed at the time of the burning... which would conflict with the woman's story. from the description the injuries seem consistent with a liquid splashed on an open front shirt.
this is the location in question:
didn't any of you learn anything from the duke lacrosse case? the days of women being innocent victims are long gone.
Now that’s just NUTS!
Owwww, I feel that! LOL!
Nonsense. He was waving his pecker around in front of the gal. Hopefully she scorched it right off.
let's see... she would be in a PUBLIC, CROWDED bar... loads of people... bouncers... cops in the street.
call me crazy, but maiming someone wouldn't be on the menu. all she would have to do is shout out and the bouncers would be all over the guy.
and from the article you linked, it sounds like the woman approached the guy, doused him, then lit him as he was leaving the bar with his buddies.
sounds like a crazy woman that forgot not to mix tequila with prosac
Here are the facts as spelled out in the article: He exposed himself to her, then forced her to touch his male member, and then continued to do so when repeated attempts to tell him to stop didn't work.
Does that simply sound "crass" to you? Crass is using cuss words, scratching my butt, or picking my nose in mixed company and in front of the children. If you believe what he did was merely crass, you have a very different definition of the word than me!
It doesn't matter at all that he was drunk. Imagine if one could use the "I was drunk" excuse to get out of the consequences of a crime? Could I kill someone, but get excused if I was drunk? Rape someone? Sexually assault them? Beat them up? At what point does the victim have right to stop such behavior, and use whatever means necessary to do so?
Here in Alabama what he did would get you charged with sexual assault, which can be a precursor to rape. And yes, using up to deadly force to prevent one from getting raped is certainly authorized here legally.
It is not up to you to decide if the next step would be rape, or at some point the attacker will stop. And it's not just me saying so. The Bill of Rights of the US Constitution recognizes self defense as a GOD given right. No government, American or Greek, can take that right from her.
Can they punish her for defending herself? Yes. Should they. I say no.
He got the hots for her?
his genitals weren't burnt. he was burnt from his neck to his belly button, as if she splashed him while he was wearing a button down shirt... then lit it.
sounds like she didn't like him leaving without her... burned him as a scorned woman might... then claimed he assaulted her to set up the he said/ she said. if what she claimed is true, there should be no shortage of witnesses to him exposing himself. (then again, his private parts would be burned if her story were true)
i really wish i could edit my posts or at least be able to add names to the 'to' field
“The date was too hot to handle.”
“Hunk a hunk of burning love.”
You are simply making crap up to try and justify your opinion.
That is dishonest (and very liberal).
I’m sorry you have such low regard for truth and knowledge that you feel you can demean it by impugning her as a “woman scorned” because it fits your narrative.
Is that you, Barack?

Please identify where in the cited article the word “scorned” was used.
Be honest - you might like the change.
from the article:
“Stuart said he was chatting to some guy sitting on a bar stool, and was just walking out when she just ran up to him and did this.”
so she was either scorned or just a whack job. i was being nice assuming she was scorned.
of course, considering this statement:
“Stuart swears blind that he’s never met or seen her,’ he added. ‘He’s not the kind of lad who gets himself in trouble - he’s a kindhearted, generous boy.”
maybe she was some crazy chick. either way, the injuries do not indicate him exposing himself.
lying crazy chick might be closer to reality (scorned is not ruled out)
