Dead?? Heck, brain dead and seriously decayed would be a more colorful description, IMHO.

The GOP party around the country and in the state of CA need a purging of old school populists and moderates.
Need to have all the Democrats challenged at all times and the sucky Republicans we don't like need to be challenged by Conservatives with talent in the primaries IMO.

The left of course doesn't consider California a dying state at all, it's a utopia-bound state that just happens to be in need of more tax revenues. They (the left) believe that given enough taxation all will be well! Schools will turn out honor students, prisons will turn out productive members of society, the air will be cleaner and even global warming will be reversed...IF ONLY we only had enough tax revenue. Government...the solution for what ails you. Nuff said.

In California, the GOP BP is 40 over 20 and will soon be in a hospice.

With millions of illegals voting, yes.
The GOP thought they could "reach out" to voters who hate them - but they hate the GOP anyway because those voters want "FREE STUFF!"

It may well be dead, but that is no comfort to Californians, whose state is headed down the socialist drain.
The GOP should be the least of their concerns.

Regardless, the national GOP is once again missing out on a golden opportunity to illustrate the end results of runaway liberalism as demonstrated by California’s failure. The usual, gutless, ineffective, inane attempt to point out the obvious. So as usual, our side will have all the facts on our side, all the evidence on our side, but still continue to lose the issues because of gutlessness by our ‘leadership’.

What really killed the GOP in California? Well the GOP is not technically dead but they are marginalized. What really did the trick? Demographics. It's as simple as that. When you have a FANTASTIC influx of immigrants (both legal & illegal) you have a change in the political dynamics. Most of the newcomers are poor and uneducated. They are the types who are most likely to want services from government that they don't have to pay for. It's in their nature. They are tailor made Democrats.
It takes a special type of person to be a free market capitalist with faith in individual rights and limited government. Just because you want a better live and you are a relatively hard worker doesn't mean you have the political instincts to be a citizen of a free republic. These folks are easy picking for the RATS and this is why nothing is done to reform immigration policy. The Democrats like the policy because it makes them the majority party. Without the 1965 Immigration Reform Act, Obama could NEVER have been elected. Think about it.
Most people don't want to face up to it but this is the situation which we face today. California probably won't be part of the United States in another 20-30 years. It pretty much a done deal at this point. They smart people know it at least most of them. Demographics is destiny and our destiny was sealed in 1965.
Thanks Democrats.

California is dead in California
California...esp So Cal, is a minority quasi underdeveloped country with a european business class. It is a ticking time bomb that is about to blow. The Hispanics have out birthed and immigrated the europeans and will soon dominate the entire state. They bring with them 3rd world socialist world views that will wreck the business class.
All of this is a foreshadowing of the USA at large.

Considering Relocating? Think about Colorado Springs
Outside Magazine just ranking Colorado Springs as the best place to live.
http://outside.away.com/outside/destinations/200908/best-towns-america-colorado-springs.html
Outside Magazine lists as a drawback that it might be get this TOO CONSERVATIVE for some people.
As you know, Money Magazine consistently usually ranks it number 1 as well. http://www.ownyourownmountain.com/artman/publish/Gazette_Telegraph_Article.html
I f you or a CONSERVATIVE person is considering relocating, Id invite you to tell them about this family values oasis. Id personally suggest Northern Colorado Springs as being the best and the most conservative. And just to lay my cards on the table, I am not in the Real Estate business and make nothing off anyone moving here. I just know that Soros and others have dumped millions into Colorado and have succeeding in taking over the state government for the first time in decades recently.
The Springs loses out to Denver and Boulder in the state elections but it is still close enough to make a difference.

It’s not just the GOP; it’s conservatism. Here’s how dead it is: President Obama’s approval rating is still a sky-high 65%, unchanged since last month, according to SurveyUSA. That same pollster shows him below the red line in states he carried, such as Virginia, Wisconsin, etc.
Conversely, RINO businesswomen Meg Whitman and Carly Fiona may become Governor and Junior Senator of California in 2010.
