EXPANSION OF CASH FOR CLUNKERS PROGRAM
Unknown ^ | 8=5-2009 | Dick Bachert

Former Congresscritter and now Secretary of Transportation Ray the hood – er – that’s LaHood popped up on TV the other day defending the “Cash for Clunkers” scam being run by his department.

The talking head reporterette asked him what benefits a program designed to destroy otherwise functioning and serviceable vehicles was providing the nation.

Like the Democrat statist he is, he responded that it was giving a serious boost to what remains of the U.S. auto industry, keeps those union auto workers, dealerships, mechanics, salesmen, scrap dealers, etc. employed and generally preventing the economy from going as deeply into the tank as the mainstream media has been for his boss from day one.

I got to thinking about that and it occurred to me that if the Cash for Clunkers thingy is that great, how about a “Bucks for Buildings” program where all non-energy efficient structures and homes are demolished and new, modern “Green” ones erected on those sites and a $100,000 rebate check sent to the owners to help defray the cost? Think of the jobs created in the demolition, building materials and construction industries. Why, there might even be enough new national payroll and federal taxes to offset those rebates – especially at the new 75% bottom federal rate.

Why, the program could be expanded to cover entire cities. POTUS – or, if he’s on another taxpayer funded junket with the First Harpy – TOTUS could order the Air Force to bomb entire older, dilapidated cities (in a clever tie-in to the Cash for Clunkers thing, DETROIT comes immediately to mind) after phoning or emailing all none non-criminals/gang members (all 24 of them) to evacuate. I’m sure our U.S. based munitions manufacturers would be tickled with orders to replace those Daisy Cutters and Bunker Busters in the Pentagon’s inventory.

There is no limit to the possibilities of these programs. And, of course, whenever the economy begins to sag a bit, Washington would simply order a few more air strikes.

It would be a classic example of the elusive perpetual motion machine.

It would also be highly reminiscent of the exotic, endangered and nearly extinct Foo bird. From the moment it fledges, the Foo bird begins flying in ever decreasing diameter circles as it chases its own tail until, with a loud sucking noise, it disappears, never to be seen again.

The last 600 or so remaining specimens are to be found only in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately for American citizens, these remaining specimens have not yet completed their life-cycles. Ornithologists who regularly observe their behavior on C-SPAN, CNN and PMSNBC have speculated that if all the remaining Foos complete their flights simultaneously, the sound will be heard on the West Coast.

With any luck, the inevitable disappearance of the last of the Foo birds WILL take place simultaneously and cause a quake which will trigger a slide sending California into the Pacific taking the Hollywood and other liberal elites and idiots with it.

I saw/heard two (count ‘em, two) LaHood appearances on Fox News today —

He sounded shrill and whiny and defensive both times...

Desperation sets in when they’re confronted with facts....

Lets have the government buy everything for us. Cars, houses, mattresses, Pez dispensers. We can have bureaucrats decide what is best for us. In return, we will cede all of our incomes. The chains will only chafe for a while, until we build up calluses.

The government is going to expand the "cash for clunkers" program to the GARS program (Geriatric Attrition Rebate System) also known as "cash for codgers". This will allow up to a $4500 rebate when they trade in a useless old citizen and give birth or adopt a new citizen.

Very nice graphics. I especially liked the color. What shade of green is that? Soylent green?

Hilarious! The part about bombing our own cities reminded me of the book “Catch 22” when they were bombing their own bases.

Congress is so funny they kill me...if the Senate passes the Clunkers re-up by Friday (before heading out of town on vacation) the plan would be funded for several more weeks until the House reconvenes in September!! So the plan is in the freezer right now....
