Animal rights extremists target Novartis

The holiday home of Novartis chairman and CEO Daniel Vasella has been badly damaged by fire, a week after his mother's grave was desecrated by animal rights militants. Although police do not know who or what caused the fire early on Monday morning in the Tyrol, there is speculation that it is the work of the same group that took the urn of Vasella's mother on July 27.

Her gravestone was defiled with a message saying the Basel pharmaceutical company must sever its ties with Britain's Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS), the largest contract animal-testing company in Europe.

The recent attacks bear the hallmarks of British extremists Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC), which in recent months has reportedly targeted Novartis in France, burning down a sports centre and setting fire to company cars.

On Tuesday evening Austrian police confirmed they were "probably" dealing with a criminal act and that they were investigating all possible angles – "including SHAC".

A spokeswoman for SHAC denied any involvement in the recent events, but added that the organisation had many sympathisers "who support our goals". In a statement SHAC said it was willing to meet Novartis and discuss these issues, "but our campaign against them will continue until they stop using HLS".

Grave-robbing is not a new tactic. In October 2004 the Animal Rights Militia (ARM) – which has also targeted Novartis – claimed responsibility for removing from a grave the mother-in-law of a British farm-owner who bred guinea pigs for HLS.

Swiss security services say they have noticed increases in animal rights violence for some time. According to the Swiss Federal Police Office, in 2007 a sixth of cases involving violent extremism involved animal-rights activists.

Obviously a diversion tactic by the evil insurance companies and big pharma to distract people from the importance of "Organizing for Health Care"

Sounds like a case for flag@whitehouse.gov

I am NOT a member of PETA or any other similar organization, but the animal research that this company is doing is hideous — beyond the comprehension of reasonable people. Just check, for instance, on how Premarin is made. Disgusting.

I wouldn't desecrate a grave or burn down a house, but it's really hard to work up any sympathy for this company or anyone associated with it.

Look this up for yourselves.

we are the beings that run the planet...call it God given if you like.

We need to be stewards of the land to the point that we don’t drown in our own waste...after that, we need to take from the planet what we need to survive...if that means taking mare urine for medicine or blinding rabbits, so be it.

I also approve of the whalers, those jackoffs on ‘Whale Watch’ terrorize...if it was my whaling ship...I would sink the faggoty little whiney b@$tards who are trying to stop them from making a living....thats what you do to pirate ships...sink them.

I’m sorry but if this was me and these freaks stole my mother’s urn and firebombed my house - I would hunt them down and kill them. And wouldn’t even bat an eye.

The drug Premarin is obtained from mare’s urine. If you don’t like the process, then by all means you should not buy the medicine. That means that if you are an aging woman, no Premarin for hormone replacement therapy, or to fight osteoporosis.

A synthetic form of the active hormone is available, and is being litigated. Presumably, no one would object to the synthetic form.

In any case, it is probably justifiable to defend one’s ancestors graves, and certainly even lethal force is allowed in most states to defend against arson. I would never like to kill a human being, yet I certainly would make short work of anyone attempting to burn down my home. It is a matter of defending my family, my own life, and the results of a goodly part of my life’s labor. I would also be improving society by eliminating the arsonists.

Don’t know if you have seen this: http://www.directaction.info/

Daniel Vasella

Daniel Vasella’s Hunting House
Oberbach, A-6653 Bach, Austria
************************************
night 02-03 August 2009
************************************

As well as butchering animals at HLS, Novartis Chairman and CEO Daniel Vasella likes to butcher animals in his own private hunting estate in Austria. He had it personally built in a town called Bach, up in the mountains. There is a large cooling unit and an area for preparing his kills, which he sometimes supplies to the local restaurant. There is also a large garage, that we guess holds the car that picks him up from the neighboring town (the rich scumbag flies in on his personal helicopter!)

You could tell it was his house from a distance - the skulls of deer we saw hanging from the walls outside and inside only made us more determined.

60 litres of petrol was concentrated in two places around the house - the roof sheltering the front entrance was packed full of petrol bombs with most of the petrol containers placed under it by the door to catch the wood inside, and around the side the wooden garage door and angled roof supports were targetted with the second group of devices.

It hasn’t been your week has it, Daniel? Understand this: This will continue until you sever all ties with Huntingdon Life Sciences. We will attack your private life wherever possible. If you think it’s fun killing animals in your own forest in Austria and bring them to your hunting estate, we will destroy it. Have you got any more hobbies Daniel? We will destroy them. We will destroy your life. Just remember one thing, dealing with HLS means dealing with US.

DROP HLS NOW!

MFAH Austria - if it can burn, it WILL...”
