One aspect of this that makes my skin crawl is this implied request for snitches to turn-in their friends and political enemies.

In the Soviet Union there was this kid who turned in his father for being an anti-communist. They tried and executed him (the father). He was hailed as a Soviet hero and statues were built for him...

When a government begins establishing rules and laws and edicts of itself, outside of constitutional bounds, republican principles, and the will and basic morality of the people as defined therein...it is tyranny.

When the people, through republican principle control and keep their government bound by said constitution and republican principles and morality, you have liberty.

This works equally at the national and state level.

In principle, we have come far down the road to tyranny.

That is why we must work hard and turn it around.
