The White House and Democratic officials, surprised by the angry words thrown at Democratic lawmakers in their first weekend of August town hall meetings, are scrambling to put together a strategy to minimize the effects of what they see as an organized campaign to disrupt the meetings and spread anxiety about health care reform and President Obama.

I believe the public is seeing an entirely different message.
Like what the heck is rousing all these folks up?
Our anger is only beginning! For myself, I’ve had enough of this crap!
Should we tell these jacka$$es that a lot of the angry people are democrats?
“Should we tell these jacka$$es that a lot of the angry people are democrats?”
Shhhh...let’s sneak up on them...
We have your playbook and understand exactly what you are doing. Alinski's rules only work if the other side is unaware of what you are doing.
It is not a bad strategy if you are a Democrat, but it misses the very simple truth that people might actually be angry.
It’s great that we’re fighting this like mad. But where in the hell are our elected REPUBLICAN officials public statements about this? Why in the hell are they not out there defending OUR right to disagree with what’s on the table? They better pipe up soon..lest they pay at the ballot box too.
Problem for the Rats is that they can't understand the fact that the folks at these meetings AREN"T organized, but are genuinely pissed off constituents.
Like the good Communists that they are, the Rats just can't wrap their little brains around something that is NOT organized, and it will be their downfall next year in the election.
Hiding behind the NAFTA lobbyists.
It’s often an effective strategy. This author is all mixed up.
He writes,
“The challenge for the White House and Democrats is that they find a way to separate genuinely anxious conservatives who ask good questions — even if those questions are provided by conservative groups — and the crazies who tend to pack town hall meetings.”
No. The challenge for the White House is to label anyone who questions Obamacare a right-wing nut. Then use that label to persuade the center to oppose the right-wing nuts.
He also writes,
“The challenge for Republicans is to prevent the media from labeling everyone who attends a meeting with a Democratic lawmaker and who calls him or herself a conservative as a crazy person.”
No. The media will do what they do. The challenge for Republicans is to educate the public about what is really in Obamacare and to articulate and promote an alternative vision for healthcare in our country.
It’s really not that complicated.
There are parents of special needs children who know exactly how hard it can get under socialized medicine, for example, and lots of them, on websites discussing this. And more....I just googled things like healthcare public option and the hits were endless.
I’d like to see a poster/cartoon showing Obama serving Koolaid to Dem voters. That’s what he did with his hypnosis thingy while campaigning.
If that’s their “strategy”, it ain’t working for them. All they are doing is creating a bipartisan backlash.
I can think of another appendage that would be more appropriate.
Hey White House, ridicule as much as you want but remember the words of Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant.” You have done so.
yep.
I certainly don’t disagree with the image or the right to post it, nor am I offended by it at all. I think the image is spot on true about the evil in the man. But it is not people like me you are trying to sway.
To me, ridicule seeks to make fun of a characteristic, not put a light on sinister and dark character flaws. They should lose respect in him because of somewhat humorous character flaws. I am afraid that image is too ominous and truthful to have the desired effect: to lose respect for the low life.
I say some thing more along the line (and somebody with a better imagination might think of a much better one) of Obama in a court jester cap or a Keystone cop uniform. Maybe a Tom Cruise “show me the money” character . . . IMHO
