Haven't you heard the MSNBC and Obama talking points?

They are not "constituents."

Every single one of them are fake people, probably robots, who are part of a MASSIVE Right Wing Conspiracy to make it appear that Obama-Care is bad.

And I believe they are all telling each other that “this will blow over by next year at this time.”

Won't matter, if they don't pass it this Fall, they won't pass it next year. Not in the teeth of an election.

My wife sent out congressman a message saying she was against health care and spending money. They sent her a message thanking her for her concerned about global warming.

You should send that to the newspaper as an example of how “out of touch” the Congressman is.

Keep it short and supply the supporting documentation.

d (2) there was a lot of margin for flexibility in key aspects of the economy back then, particularly with regard to tax policy (I'm not sure there's much room for any changes here, since cutting tax rates from their relatively low levels probably isn't going to do much).

The hell it wouldn't. Cut corporate taxes by 50%, eliminate capital gains taxes and the death taxes, plus pledge to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. The economy would respond!

And, while there would still be a deficit, it would be smaller by far than the trillion dollar-plus deficit currently projected.

There is always room to cut taxes!
And spending!

I agree. I am thankful for the ping too.

Until we let the people know the plan is “The Kevorkian Health Plan” it will still have some legs.

Maybe we will have tell some of these leftists who he was/is and; what he did?

Very good now go out and campaign for someone that will serve your state with honesty..talk to your neighbors and friends and get something going..make sure you take some information that you have collected with you so those people will be as angry as you are..

The GOP's refusal to stand up while our nation is being destroyed is really just a brilliant strategy.

Of course it sounds ridiculous.

Keep in mind that what's happening now is largely the result of economic realities that have to play out and can't really be changed very much. It's sort of like a torrential flood that has inundated an area after a storm. There's no point in trying to fix a breach in a levee while the water is pouring through . . . we simply have to pile sandbags around our homes and wait until the water recedes before we go about fixing things.

Schumer is Earl Scheib on crack. He always has that "used-car salesman" smile while he talks. You just know he's full of it every time he opens his mouth.

Here's an amazing -- and unbelievable -- post for both of you.

In the last few years I've worked with a couple of old Washington insiders (including a former member of Congress) who know the Beltway political scene very well.

Both of these guys swear that behind the scenes, Chuck Schumer is actually one of the most decent human beings you'll ever meet in politics. Quote: "He'd give you the shirt off his back, and feel bad that he doesn't have another one to give you."

I couldn't believe that. Talk about a disconnect between reality and public perception. LOL.

I agree with your proposed measures 100%, but without massive spending cuts (including spending cuts that would outrage many of these "town hall" protesters even more than they are now), the numbers simply will never work. Take a look at the size of the Federal budget, and compare it to the amount of revenue that is currently generated through those taxes.

It would be well for Republican candidates to emphasize "smaller government", rather than "lower spending".

I believe the events of the past six months have taught people that the problem is greater than "high spending". Big Government begets Big Spending.

The only way to shrink government is to starve it of revenue. And responsibilities...

Good points. The Dems feel they won the election and it’s their turn to sack the treasury. We need fewer Statists and more Statesmen.
