Another Blue Dog faces his constituents on health care (Dems are scared !)
Hot Air ^ | August 4, 2009 | ED MORRISSEY

Democracy can be a dangerous thing … for incumbents who pass bad policy, or even attempt to defend it. Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit and Doug Ross have the latest evidence of this, a town-hall meeting on ObamaCare in Ohio’s 1st CD, represented by Democrat Steve Dreihaus. In this case, Dreihaus has even more to explain after winning his seat on a claim of fiscal conservatism, as Dreihaus also voted for cap-and-trade, which will make Ohio’s coal industry vanish along with hiking energy costs on his constituents. Yesterday, though, ObamaCare made them angry enough:

Thanks for the ping. I believe most of these Dems were elected as “conservatives” and they need to hear from their constituents!

Dreihaus is just plain ignorant and perhaps stupid. As I wastched him on the video and listened to the lecture given by the organizer my thought drifted to, “In a battle of wits make sure your opponent is armed.”

Well if they pass this, they had better think about being bumped from their positions next election. Because then they will also be on the healthcare plan like the rest of us.

Olberman is a joker, just like his president.

Bottom line, he doesn’t have the power to do so!

The blue dog democrats were elected as (mostly) conservatives democrats in districts that had been Repulbican. Does Olberman explain how he’s going to get conservative voters to vote for “progressives and moderates”? No. Because he cannot.

What power do progressives (read Left Wing) have over the blue dog districts? None. Oh, they can screw them by not sharing the pig trough that is the socialist federal government with them, but as most conservative districts will tell you, “been there, done that”.

No, no power in conservative areas; the progressives only have power in San Francisco, Massachusetts, NYC, Seattle, etc, etc, but last I checked, Olberman, those already had Communist representation.

” There is no logical reason for employers to be the source for family health care.

They are the source for family income. One item a smart family should buy is health care. Another item is car insurance. It makes no more sense for an employer to provide health insurance as it does to provide car insurance.

They are individual responsibilities.”

Once government got involved in healthcare via Medicare in the 60’s, the cost of healthcare skyrocketed as did the cost of insurance. That’s when most employers started offering it as a benefit. I would like to see reform in the area of lawsuits which also added to costs. Also Medicare/Medicaid reform. Also insurance pools that will help keep costs down. If the government is allowed into healthcare any more than it already is, they will simply use incrementalism to take over that whole segment of our economy. With expected disastrous results....

Driehaus did his best to maintain a facade of support. His town-hall organizers took only written questions and started off the meeting warning about “Teabaggers,” a term that they apparently didn’t know or care was a sexual slur intended to insult the very fiscal conservatives Dreihaus claims to represent.

LOLOL.....morons.

Wage and price controls (another collectivist idea) under Nixon were the reason for the “health insurance benefit”.

I do.

Nathan Deal, before he turned Republican, was a Democrat. He was a better conservative than most ‘Pubbies; I know because I voted against him the first time he ran and tracked his voting record. He switched parties because he felt he could better represent his constituents as a ‘Pubbie. With a little luck, he’s going to be the next governor of Georgia.

Oh man. Finally, the “silent majority” isn’t silent any more. I think we’re looking at the beginning of lynch mobs. LOL Gotta love it. :o)

Wow! That is impressive!

I am honored to even be mentioned as making any contribution - but please do take all the credit.

Whatever gets the message out! We need to!

What's happening is that a Sleeping Giant has woken up, and he is not happy.

The sleeping giant started to stir when the Republicans tried to force amnesty down our throats back in 2006. They mistakenly thought it was a Republican problem. It's become quickly obvious that the democrats are trying to use similar tactics to sneak past the very people that hired them. And they're trying to do this repeatedly.

Virtually all of the bailout and stimulus bills were passed against the will of the vast majority of the people. They want to do the same with health care, but the people are really starting to get angry.

I would have voted for Zell over McCain, Palin or not.

But it isn’t in the water, or we could do something about the commies from Atlanta. Don’t forget, Cynthia McKinney is from Georgia, too.

Schumer is Earl Scheib on crack. He always has that "used-car salesman" smile while he talks. You just know he's full of it every time he opens his mouth.

I think Shamnesty was Bipartisan if I remember, but Senator John McCain can take the lions share of the blame. Probably why he lost the last election, amoung other things.

The Sleeping Giant woke up and is finding his Ma and Pa under attack and a government doctor to replace the one he found for his family. Time to dust off the club.

I voted for Palin (and that other guy,) but wonder what would have happened if McCain had picked Zell or even Lieberman as his VP.
I suppose the media would have buried them with “the old white guys” meme...
