The Israel Air Force has purchased a new and advanced JDAM smart bomb with a laser-targeting system that will improve the IAF's ability to accurately hit fast-moving targets. According to an Israeli Defense Ministry official, the order was placed earlier this summer for over 100 LJDAM (Laser Joint Direct Attack Munition) kits

...improve the IAF's ability to accurately hit fast-moving targets. Perhaps trucks fleeing a nuclear weapons development site?

Well, that’s a great system, but I’m afraid that I’ve finally reached a point where the more I hear these much-hyped stories about sabre-rattling, the less I’m inclined to believe that anything bad (but richly deserved) will happen to Iran —by anyone.
I’m getting this sick feeling that was we AND Israel are choosing is the most comfortable AND BAD choice available to us:
To do nothing.

"Im still believing that Israel will strike Iran by the end of this year" Everybody said that last year.
I'm with gaijin, we'll do nothing.

The Israeli pattern is to simply ACT with such profoundly little fanfare before the act that in retrospect the silence seems DEAFENING.
Indeed in many cases, afterwards again the same thing —no words or gloating.
Instead, here we hear of all these threats and teeth-gnashing. It’s like they’re coming to terms with their own agony over NOT being able to act.
Again, for all my trigger itching yearning, I feel more certain than ever that our governments are simply clicking their red-diamond heels, shrieking TheresNoPlaceLikeHome, somehow hoping to WILL all this nastiness away.
Over the past two years I cannot count the number of times that I felt sure —SURE— that something was surely about to happen to Iran.
NOPE..!!!

The difference between “last year” and “this year” is “Bibi” Netanyahu coming into office - and a growing realization by Israeli leaders that the new American president is not standing behind Israel's defense - and is even kowtowing to the arabs and Persians (Iran) Only time will tell who is correct

The only thing that gives me a glimmer of hope that Israel actually WILL take action is the man at the top over there......Ben Netanyahu. I think HE has the cahones to do it, if he isn’t stymied by all the bleeding heart handwringers and hankie twisters he has to SERVE WITH in the Israeli Gubmint.

On Iran the Israeli left and right are united.
That’s why Netanyahu picked the Labor Party leftist Ehud Barak for Defense Minister. Best man for the job. That;s why Shimon Perez is on board.
It is an existential threat for Israel and even the left understands it.

These are tank killers, not bunker busters.
Obama won’t sell the bunker busters (not that Bush would, either).

Or to take out Iran's mobile missile launchers to help deter a follow-up attack on Israel?

That’s possible.
The Shahab-3b theoretically can reach Israel, but I don’t think it is large enough to carry a nuke, or at least a nuke of the type Iran would make. The S-4 was in the works when I left the IAF.
