Blame Calvinism and its belief in "collective guilt" for this phenomenon. I know that Calvin did have some influence on Evangelical Lutheranism in Sweden and Germany, despite resistance to JC among prominent Lutheran theologians.
It should also be pointed out that both electoral turnout and electoral integrity are strongest in those portions of the US settled by Scandanavians (Minnesota, Iowa, outer Wisconsin, etc.). They (generally) tend to be lowest in regions of the country settled by Catholics and blacks.
- Interesting.
Thanks for always contributing with intelligent and well informed posts to threads I start.
My impression is that Scandinavian immigrants to America often are viewed as honest, law abiding but also somewhat naive.
I guess this more or less is the truth concerning Scandinavians at large.
But luckily enough, there is a limit also to things like Swedish tolerance.
One example of this is how 95% of my country was outraged about the minority of retarded Swedish leftists who claimed that “America has itself to blame for 9/11” some years ago (shortly after the attack on WTC).
There are a lot of things to say about Scandinavian political correctness, but at least we Scandinavians know wrong from right.
