Christopher Caldwell’s “Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam, and the West” is a hot book presented under a cool, scholarly title. To observe that Mr. Caldwell’s rhetoric is “hot” is not to say that it is aggrieved or unruly. On the contrary, Mr. Caldwell, a senior editor at The Weekly Standard and a columnist for The Financial Times, compiles his arguments patiently, twig by twig, and mostly with lucidity and intellectual grace and even wit.
But they are arguments one is not used to hearing put so baldly, at least from the West’s leading political journalists. Primary among them are these: Through decades of mass immigration to Europe’s hospitable cities and because of a strong disinclination to assimilate, Muslims are changing the face of Europe, perhaps decisively. These Muslim immigrants are not so much enhancing European culture as they are supplanting it. The products of an adversarial culture, these immigrants and their religion, Islam, are “patiently conquering Europe’s cities, street by street.”

Now, the brain trust at the New York Times is starting to wake up about things and this is all suddenly OK to note, and slanted as if their chosen "geniuses" are the first to have noticed this clash of cultures.
Better late than never, I suppose, but extremely annoying nonetheless.
I found this interesting, not because the information is new, but because of the source and the sudden new slant from that source.

Whites in Europe still have the power to keep the Muslims from supplanting their own culture with Islam.
They better hurry.
OTOH, as long as there are this many white liberals in the US, disproportionate leftist voting by “minorities” will keep big government in power.
The New York Times is so oblivious to us that they proably don’t even know that we’ve been talking about it for years. What’s next? They’ll discover some scientists don’t believe in global warming?
We should be ones to talk - we already have a muslim in the WH supplanting our culture.

We are currently living in stage three.
Stage 1:
Start immigrating - move into a country quietly.
Stage 2:
Begin starting Mosques: “learning centers” community helps: food etc.
Stage 3:
Political activism: demanding rights, denounce derogatory comments/press etc.
Stage 4:
Get elected, pass laws favoring rights etc. move toward political majority.
Stage 5:
Political control, Sharia Law
The U.S. needs to limit all future immigration to those of the Judeo-Christian faith or else we’ll be inundated with cultures defined by their religious identity at odds with our common culture and this in turn will add more momentum to multi-culturalism fraying the fabric that binds our nation. As John Jay wrote in the Federalist Papers we are more than a creedal nation. We are bound by a common culture, share institutions and legal framework based on a Judeo-Christian heritage. Lose this, and we lost a nation. Britain is just finding this out.
T.S. Eilot, one of the greats of the Literary Age warned about this some 50 years ago. In our country, Samuel Huntington in his celebrated book “Clash of Civilizations” has predicted that American and the West cannot sustain this level of third world immigration. Indeed, Patrick Buchanan in ‘Death of the West” has called for limiting immigration to Christians from western Europe.
Alien faiths, cultures, rituals and practices have a way of infecting the body politic by its toxic ideas as well. Deepak Chopra is one charlatan who has abused this privilege.
I think we need to screw with the NYT’s. Perhaps go to the site, then don’t register and back out.
I hate to register with them because I see this as a ploy to eventually start charging. If they run off advertising, by not going fully into site, they will have less hits (I think) and realize the number of readers they are missing and their advertisers are missing.
Am I off base here?

Dang! We have been taken over by marxists in DC, already pretty well conquered in the southwest through the brilliant strategic plan implemented by Mexico in the late 70's, and the Moslem barbarians are frothing at the gates.
Balkanization rules! The next few decades will be bloody...Apophis may actually bring stabillity-through-chaos in 2029 or 2036 and clean this mess up once and for all.

Obviously this book has been written over many months. But I think it can only gain traction on the Left now that Obama is in office. While Bush was in office, the Left was busy putting all of its efforts into hating George W. They simply refused to see any threat from Islam. After all Islam is one of the stripes in the multicultural rainbow flag. Of course the culture that Bush represented has never been given a stripe in that flag of color and never will get a stripe.
Now that Bush is fading into a distant memory, the Left will have to face Islam directly. There may be some surprising results in the near future. It is one thing to embrace the Other when the hug takes place only in a book, or through a television screen, or from a stripe in a multi-colored flag. It is quite a another thing to embrace the Other when the call to pray echos throughout your city 5 times a day, and you can't get a cab because all the cabbies are in the local mosque. Some of the Left may wake up to find that the group hug they gave Islam was really a one-night stand and discover that they woke up with Frankenstein in their bed.

I don't think it's my IP address because I changed it at one point IIRC.
I was able to get straight to it using both Firefox and IE8. BTW, IE8 forces me to use msn as a start page, no way to change it without doing something complicated. So I notice every time I open it up which is more seldom now, I check my cache manually. You would not believe the cookies and other garbage it drops in there on just one visit. So I go in manually and delete them after every session w/IE8, probably should do the same with FF but it manages the cache a little differently which I don't fully understand yet. Even if I could use a blank for a start page w/IE8 which I prefer, I'd still pick up more of this garbage. If I use the feature to clear the cache, delete cookies, I check afterwards, and doesn't always delete them all.
Maybe there's another reason you can't read the article?
I thought the article was very incisive and commend them for publishing it. Better late than never.
The vast majority of immigrants to the US are of the Christian faith, or otherwise culturally compatible (Chinese, Indians and other East Asians). The proportion of Muslims is tiny.
The US is in a very different position than Europe. They would, I think, love to have our immigrant mix.
