The U.S. needs to limit all future immigration to those of the Judeo-Christian faith or else we’ll be inundated with cultures defined by their religious identity at odds with our common culture and this in turn will add more momentum to multi-culturalism fraying the fabric that binds our nation. As John Jay wrote in the Federalist Papers we are more than a creedal nation. We are bound by a common culture, share institutions and legal framework based on a Judeo-Christian heritage. Lose this, and we lost a nation. Britain is just finding this out.
T.S. Eilot, one of the greats of the Literary Age warned about this some 50 years ago. In our country, Samuel Huntington in his celebrated book “Clash of Civilizations” has predicted that American and the West cannot sustain this level of third world immigration. Indeed, Patrick Buchanan in ‘Death of the West” has called for limiting immigration to Christians from western Europe.
Alien faiths, cultures, rituals and practices have a way of infecting the body politic by its toxic ideas as well. Deepak Chopra is one charlatan who has abused this privilege.
The vast majority of immigrants to the US are of the Christian faith, or otherwise culturally compatible (Chinese, Indians and other East Asians). The proportion of Muslims is tiny.
The US is in a very different position than Europe. They would, I think, love to have our immigrant mix.
