It took four years of George Bushs second term to push Republicans to a recent nadir in registration in Minnesota. It only took six months of Barack Obama to push the GOP back into parity with the DFL, the states Democratic Party. Eric Ostermeier at Smart Politics looks at the suddenly-stronger Republican Party and draws at least one of the correct conclusions:
The SurveyUSA poll finds 34 percent of Minnesotans now identify as Republicans - the largest percentage enjoyed by the GOP in 63 surveys conducted by the organization dating back to its inaugural tracking poll in May 2005, when 35 percent identified as Republicans.
In fact, Republicans had only reached the 30 percent mark in just 7 of the previous 42 statewide surveys conducted by the polling organization since January 2007.
Democrats have held advantages over the GOP in party ID of moderate to large margins since late 2005. The percentage of residents identifying as Democrats in Minnesota had even eclipsed the 40 percent mark nine times since the 2006 election - and as recent as April and June of 2009.

(Insert evil laugh here) while I rub my hands together in apparent diabolic glee!
Too late, you idjits.
Gov Tim Pawlenty is speaking out against both RomneyCare and ObamaCare.
Hearken back to the days immediately following The Great Spreader’s election. Many “experts” were saying this was the death of the Pubbie Party. My thought was (1) Obama owed a lot of his win to the late September financial crisis (blamed entirely on the Pubbies by the media) and (2)Obama would help with the resurgence of the Pubbies with his own disastrous ineptitude.
Land of the imbeciles that elected Franken
At least the American public realizes that Republicans may be bad but liberals are infinitely worse. Problem is they have to be reminded every 5 to 10 years the hard way.
Agreed - too damn LATE! You putzs in Minn have given us SIX freakin’ years of Mr. “I’m on the Judiciary Comm so I bring up PERRY MASON” Franken! Thanks for NOTHIN” !!!!!!!
5 1/2. We at least kept the scum out 6 months.
Perhaps conservatives ought to register as Republicans just to cause panic in the ‘Rat ranks. This would be very effective if done before they come back to carry water for BO’s deathcare bill in September.

ACORN voter fraud is what put Franken in office. And the courts looked the other way.

Depressing and dangerous. We have to win for 20 or 30 years in a row, and then use our power, to get real judges on the bench.
LLS
Republican politicians are the politically stupidest politicians on the planet, so don't hold your breath.
I concur.
When an election is openly stolen on national TV; it forces people with morals to act.
The primary reason why MN is turning around so quickly is not because of Obama, though that is helping things along.
If anyone knows who Margaret Kelliher, Larry Pogemiller, and Tarryl Clark are, then you know why the GOP in MN is starting to expand again. It’s because those three have attempted to singlehandedly hurt Minnesotans.
The last two major budgets and other issues have hurt the DFL in places they’ve never hurt before (see: Iron Range).
We didn’t. ACORN selected him. By the way, how are your senators working out?
I’d ask how your Senators are doing but you don’t seem to want to let us know who they are.
Thinking Minnesotans are angry over how this turned out. We don’t need your insults on top of it.
